Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Offshoring Medicare - just announced

Just had a department meeting, they are offshoring Medicare bus ops. made it sound like enough people took the VSP to offset lay offs but also said they didn’t know and it was above them. They claimed the VSP was a separate initiative from this and the “timing aligned” not sure how it aligned when this news could have made people choose the VSP. Not sure why they would wait to announce this after the VSP deadline. 13% of bus ops took the VSP they confirmed. Stated they were going to move people into new positions within the next few weeks which ironically aligns with the RIF date. Good luck everyone and congrats to those who accepted the VSP and it worked out.

@k8 Hiding the offshoring plans until after the VSP deadline was disrespectful and intentional. Admitting they couldn't let our entire department apply for VSP proves leadership knew these cuts were coming and actively chose not to give us a fair choice. This wasn’t a separate initiative. It’s not a coincidence that they told us the day after the VSP acceptances went out. The promise of internal reassignments doesn’t make me feel any better. 13% took VSP with the offshoring coming in they will not be replacing all those seats. They simply won’t be needed. Aka project simplify. They’re more see through than they realize.

I find it odd-my manager and director are usually so transparent but they both applied for VSP and now-no acknowledgement they were accepted and then this meeting occurred. Did they know something ahead of time that could have helped all of us make our decisions better? And why, when they were willing to share they applied “but it’s a personal decision everyone has to make for themselves” aren’t they telling us their outcome?

@jt Agree! Government officials if you are reading this, you need to do something about this anti-American miscarriage of justice or we WILL vote you out!

I agree, outsourcing jobs is very anti-American, and using Federal dollars to do it should be illegal. I don't know what sort of legal loophole these companies who take taxpayer dollars are allowed to jump through, but it should be sewn up tight.

@b3 A person I hope to never encounter in life again...she has only been with the company 8 weeks, and felt the need to let us know that before she let us know that hey by the way your position is being outsourced!q

the fact that companies hire offshore is anti-American. No-one from another country should have personal information on US American citizens. Many of the complaints received from members is due to offshore agents. Imagine how successful Centene would be with its membership and employees if they promoted, employed, and advocated for the territories of their membership-base.

@bk “transitioned into different roles under her” but also said don’t be surprised if you get moved under a different LOB/team. I still expect layoffs. They did also promise anyone being transitioned would get the training they would need to be successful…I forgot to mention in the meeting they kept avoiding the word lay off. “Future reductions” she finally shook out of her mouth. It’s all about the members she said. Read between those lines.

Wonder what was meant by "new positions?" Within the same department? Similar responsibilities but different titles?

Who is this Amy person? I'm not familiar with her. Is she over EBOS for all of Medicare or something?

Amy lacked professionalism. She was the WRONG person to deliver news that would completely change people's lives.

She opened the call with jokes, knowing full well the weight of what she was about to say. Not once did she apologize. Not once did she acknowledge the fear, uncertainty, or disappointment so many employees were feeling. A little empathy costs nothing.

Instead, she took time to congratulate those who were approved for the voluntary separation program, which raises another question: if their outcome was already decided, why were they even invited to sit through the same meeting?

The way the Medicare Business Operations Configuration Department was handled was disappointing from beginning to end. People deserved honesty, respect, and compassion—not a tone that minimized the impact of losing their livelihood.

Leadership isn't just about delivering difficult news. It's about how you deliver it. People may eventually forget the exact words, but they'll never forget how you made them feel.

I genuinely hope this serves as a lesson. When you're entrusted with delivering life-changing news, lead with humanity. DO BETTER AMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Under what leader(s) in Medicare are ops being outsourced?

@a4 configuration, benefits, pricing, certain claim tasks and they mentioned provider data as well. This is for all Medicare platforms. I’m so sorry but I’d try to be prepared.

Not to ask a d-mb question, but what is meant by Medicare bus ops in this context? If it matters, I do provider data management for a Medicare market in one state, which I understand is part of EBOS.

@OP wth?!? thank you for the info.

there are "six or 7" layers between me and the big cheeses. since mid June 2026, NOT ONE "leader" has spoken about any of this. Not PL/SUPV/MGR/VP, not cheri...NO ONE.
