Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What's next?

Layoffs went from being an occasional thing, to being once or twice a year, to being a quarterly thing, and we're now at basically monthly layoffs. What's next? Weekly? Daily? Why don't they just lay all of us off right now and put us out of our misery once and for all?

Feb was the cleanest month of pure normal attrition with no layoffs going around and previous all cleared.

Since March, headcount average overall reduction is 920 per month, with 1311 additions on average per month.
Prior that additions per month were 1229 on average. So backfill is the same, even marginally increased (probably due to bit higher normal attrition due to lower morale).

@dv based on pre-March monthly numbers normal attrition used to be 1k hired, 1k leaving. we still have ~1k additions per month, so backfilling happens at the same rate as before, so it's extra 1k monthly layoffs trickling on top since March.

@az the consistent decrease in numbers is probably attrition from people changing jobs/retiring and not being replaced because of hiring freezes

@a4 Better yet, have all RSUs vest before you are dejobbed.

And while I'm at it, I'll wish for a unicorn.

I'd be a whole lot less upset about monthly or quarterly layoffs if we also had monthly or quarterly stock vesting.

Not saying I'd be happy, just less upset
