Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Term vs resign?

When you tell your manager you’re not relocating, will they terminate you or force you to resign? What’s better from a benefits standpoint?

Over the years many people have sort of "pretend" moved while leaving family in California. The flights back and forth aren't bad for a few years. Just get a cheap apt near the office so you can walk to work. Fly home Thursday night and come back Sunday on the red eye. Work 10 hour days so you can do 8/80 schedule.

IT job market is brutal in CA.

They may say that your paycheck is in Houston if you want to pick it up. If not, and having also offered relocation assistance, it then becomes an individual choice. The Company isn’t obligated to offer any form of severance.

@aa, You're right. Dillweed has no clue. Let's wait for AI, lol.

@a2 IT has a deadline of September for relocation from San Ramon, Do we really think EOI will be offered before then?

@OP It’s best to not say anything until the EOI is offered. Your supervisor may already assume you may not relocate, but you do not need to confirm it. Chevron will probably be doing EOI into 2027 (maybe 3028) until they have their overseas operations and AI in place. Good luck to you in your next role.
