Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Earnings Call?

Should we even listen in to this? With everything that has been changed and twisted the last six weeks I doubt they’ll paint a true picture of what’s happening. I find it interesting the forecast was so off but yet this go around they know exactly how many of us to offer VSP and ISP. I have no faith in this leadership any longer.

@a8 totally agree with your thoughts. When doing a very basic calculation on the percentage we need to reduce based on the MMs put aside it looked like maybe 3%. But I’m sure they’re banking on a much bigger reduction but not realizing the costs as people will quit or get fired before they EVER pay out VSP. And then them updating ISP policy is so shady…

@aa Yes absolutely ignored it and went right into AI and streamlining, her favorite word. Unbelievable

@ae Yeah, that behavior of hers and mental state is what psychologists term as a sociopath.

@aa Sarah was ummm and stuttering while answering about the cost cutting and the employee buyout question. She answer other questions fluently.

@a6 Wouldn’t be surprised if someday one person would be recommending stock to a friend and say, “Have you considered buying stock in that AI company called Centene?”

And his friend reply, “I think I have heard of them, didn’t they used to sell Health Insurance products at one time?”

First friend’s reply, “Umm, maybe, not really sure.”

@a8 Yeah, it is truly sad and disgusting. Business as usual for them, despite the many lives they have ruined.

I doubt, except for divine intervention, that they will ever have a conscience as to that fact.

Perhaps when they are really old and have lots of time on their hands and cannot escape thoughts of regret from creeping in.

That actually, strangely enough, would be a blessing for them, depending on what they did with those thoughts l.

@OP oh I listened to it! Things are fantastic. We are embracing AI. Medicaid and Medicare are doing better than expected.
I'm sure all the c suite will be getting substantial bonuses that will get added to each time a person who asked for VSP and got sc--wed with a 2027 dates leaves with no severance.

@a3 That would truly be funny if they started having AI to both prepare the talking points for the Quarterly Earnings Calls AND had AI actually present the talking points AND have AI answer any of the shareholders (bankers) questions.

Maybe would not even need to have the CEO nor CFO to be on the calls. And bot even need to phone operator either.

The biggest issue with this call is that leadership spends more time talking about AI and technology than they do about increasing membership. Yes, technology and AI can be a driver of cost savings and member and provider experiences, but technology and AI is not our business. Our business is health insurance.

When was the last time leadership talked about entering a new market or strategies for bringing in new members and revenue.

Eventually, if we only focus on cost savings there will be no company. Revenue growth is the only thing what will sustain this company. What is concerning is that I can’t remember the last time we actually talked about true membership growth outside of purchasing WellCare which was an artificial way to claim we increased membership, or when our members moved from Medicaid to Marketplace which was an artificial shift as well.

We need growth strategies and not just that we are an AI or technology company.
