Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Join the Union

Please take some time and review and send in especially if you are a frontline worker. Regardless of what happens on 11/20/2025 we should join. We have been getting raises less then inflation for years, our Rx coverages got way worse and our insurance increased by 30% of cost while removing almost all employee discounts from other companies. That whole new program actually cost more then retail in most cases. Providing awards points which are pennies on the dollar while PSO workers get weekends off but reps who have been performing well for over a decade can't see their families on the weekend.

This needs to stop now!

@a5 please read the post above nothing mentioned about keeping jobs but I can tell you if you did join and verizon let's you go shortly after it puts them at a major legal risk. But thays besides the point the biggest point is someone advocating on our behalf for the same benefits we did have, having a better work lofe balance it's jacked up thay majority of overseas call center workers get weekends off but internal with 14 years service can't get that when pso to internal is 10:1 there are far more complaints

As the OP mentioned the union isnt about layoffs there is far more things that are unfair going on and nobody is willing to advocate.

Going Union does not mean you can't get laid off, stop with the fake postings! It means you might get protected to the end of the contract then you can get the boot. How do I know, 11 years with CWA and was laid off. I went to the wireless side after a few years of going to college and working at Sprint. As of right now my area was notified and I am not part of the layoffs. I feel sorry for the people that are impacted today... but if they were in a union as some point they would be laid off anyway.

You'd have thought that when 2000 of us were riff'd in 2001 that wireless would have gone union then. Nope. sad part was me, like several others were just getting started there when over 3k employees had over 35 years in that should have gone first. Good luck.

Did you know that if a company retaliates against you for joining a union not only is that highly illegal but they are required to pay your salery for a long period of time as well. When you say union and you are shortly let go its almost a closed and shut case for an employment law attorney. Expect union busting in leadership you have to take trainings every quarter about it. They always say things like, "you could end up not getting a raise." "you might get a lower STI." "look at so and so company." but at the end of the day if that was true, wouldnt they want it? If they could pay you less why wouldnt they? Because they don't want to lose a critical advantage. Its all propaganda. Did you also know that several of our PSO centers are in a union?

@OP As a VCG Supervisor I agree. Its sad to see reps on teams not getting what they deserve. The whole move up or out mentality is toxic.
