One of the most difficult things about layoff days is hoping its one of your team members and not you. Some of us like the people on our team and wanting one of them to be impacted instead of yourself is a special kind of he-l. It feels selfish and awful but you know it will be so much worse if you are the one to get the call. Then you have survivors guilt.

@a5 I’ve been laid off before. Both good and poor performers can be impacted. You have to realize that it can be you or me at any point. It’s a major disruption to you and your family’s life.
It costs nothing to have some decency/empathy, but there’s no shortage of miserable people in life. It says more about them than anything, and it’s best to not give them the attention they clearly lack.
Based on your comment you are selfish. It's better to own up to it instead of trying to sound caring.
@a3 That means you are a good person. I saw comments from some people who call those laid off as non performers.
This is what ruins morale. I still feel bad about others that were impacted in Nov.
I was set up by my two southeast asian colleagues before the lay off announcement was even made. I think its part of their culture to sc--w people. People are selfish. you just have to watch your back.
