The new CEO literally came in and said there would be layoffs. He literally said around 15,000 would be laid off.

OP is right, if Dan's email didn't make you aware, the last 8 years should have. Yes it su-ks but if you decided to not prepare for close to the last decade you were blind to reality.

Whether he said it or not, no one is prepared for this. I prepared and when I got the tap on shoulder it still hurt and I still felt in shock.
