Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I'm only doing the bare minimum

Call me lazy if you want, but I'm not the one who reaches for layoffs every time expenses need to come down. There are a hundred ways to save money that don't involve cutting people. They just don't want to do the work to find them. I'm just returning the favor.

The worst thing is that any employee who isn't making the company money shouldn't have been here in the first place.

I would not call it laziness - it is an adjustment: I adjust my effort to the incentives. Why would I go extra mile if my incentives are cut back every year?

This is the way. At least the BNY anyway. A lot of people are doing the bare minimum, quiet quitting in all but name. There’s really no incentive to go above and beyond anymore. “Own it,” “Be more for our clients,” “Run our company better”, it all feels like corporate theater while client deadlines continue to get missed and endless “strategies” are rolled out to supposedly get things back on track.
