It's pretty clear they are in panic mode. They have acquired so many companies and without any real dividend the stock price will start to decline. This will put oracle in a vulnerable spot. They have to get costs down. How much did they spend on... — read more
HW RIF
My estimates is about 2100 layoff as impact to hw project cancelations and another ?? On the Solaris side. Any wagers?
Per The Register: We’re aware of rumours about the demise of Solaris.
Our best efforts have not been able to verify the rumours. Oracle has denied it. A user tells us Solaris will be moved to maintenance mode and resources moved to Linux. That’s not quite enough for us to do a story. One of our sources is personally... — read more
This sh-- makes more sense now http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/12/02/idc_server_tracker_q3_2016/?mt=1480662038074 Had to accelerate RIF's
In light of new administration hunting down misuse of visa program and the offshoring behaviors. Add this trend in server market. Cloud winners will emerge from this tech downturn. I doubt it will be oracle of USAaybe oracle of India.
It makes sense that Solaris development would slow or even stop now!
This was obviously coming for some time. All of the new Solaris development since Oracle took control has been very meager. As an example, there have been no system ABI changes in the past six+ years (which is why OpenIndiana can run Solaris 11... — read more
Why does Hurd keep doing Class Of hirings???
I don't get it. He did it at HP and now at Oracle. He hires kids who know nothing about IT, spends millions to train them, pays them in peanuts, and lays off talented workers who are older. They wonder why our revenue is declining!
Small layoff (50% of 20 person sales team) just happened
More confirmation that layoffs are being done weekly and steathily to avoid reporting laws + news articles. No warning given, just phone call and a fedex package
SPARC Profitability
Does SPARC make money and if yes, what's the margin. We have opposing opinions on this - let's discuss here...

Solaris being canned, at least 50% of teams to be RIF'd in short term
All hands meetings being cancelled on orders from legal to prevent news from spreading. Hardware teams being told to cease development. There will be no Solaris 12, final release will be 11.4. Orders coming straight from Larry. No info on timing yet. — read more
100 Oracle lab employees RIF'd a result of canceled project. Labs impacted were from HQ to world wide. More RIF's coming to an oracle site.
More to come. No one is safe from legacy to cloud teams. Any hiring is to replace with cheaper labor more expensive employees. Post rumors and confirmations as No warnings at all have been given in advance of cuts and project cancelations.
Get ready for major activity as protectionist policies will be Oracles enemy. India is the hot market. Oracle leaders know this is the market.
If H1-b becomes risk they will accelerate job moves from US sites. As well as transfer major projects.
A major project cancel happened since last week. A project called RAPID Software development & Research ... All over the world.
From HQ to Austin to EU.
Micros redundancies?
Anyone know if they are planning Micros dev redundancies?
Oracle Layoffs 2017
Does someone have reliable info on possible cuts and layoffs in Redwood City.
Employee Layoffs After Being Acquired
Hello All - I work for a small company that was acquired a while ago. Nobody got laid off as a result of acquisition, but I wanted to see if other people had similar experience. What I heard through the grapevine is that Oracle typically waits a bit... — read more
After they cancel low hanging fruit type projects as they have been, next is cutting redundancy's which will be be very loosely defined.
Loosely defined is how they get away with not having to go on the record actually defining a strategy and new vision. It leaves them unaccountable to everyone but the top brass going them cost savings to boost earning reports for a failure to boost... — read more
Cats leaving for trump?
Has Safra had enough of Larry, Hurd and the whole oracle mess and is looking to join the trump administration ? She certainly doesn't need the money and being the co-CEO can't possibly be that much fun.
EMEA and Australia

A brave new world of Oracle layoffs
I am gonna rant here, hear me out if you'd like. I am left leaning and have been all my life. But look at what's happening at Oracle employees over last three years - all of that made me not vote for the left including HRC. Anyhow, we are in a rigged... — read more
