Working at AT&T, especially in a management role, can be a tough gig. The place is steeped in old school politics and cliques, which can be pretty off-putting. They try to balance things out with diversity quotas, but it often equates to tokenism and reverse discrimination. The whole vibe there is just toxic.

A lot of the bosses don't really get it – they lack emotional intelligence and it shows. Up at the top, the big shots – the SVPs and EVPs – seem more concerned with hanging onto their perks and retirement plans than actually doing something meaningful. And the whole issue with the Chairman and CEO roles being combined for too long? That just made accountability a joke, with the board seeming like it's just there to nod along.

Honestly, I wouldn't want my kids working there, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's got some real skills to offer. If you end up at AT&T, it feels like you're just trading your time for a paycheck. Sure, you might make some cool friends among your coworkers, but when you think about it, there are other companies out there in the same field that actually know how to run a business properly and care for their people.

It's called #reversediscrimination

The company is mostly young and Indian now. If you are not one of those 2, then your out. Sounds like 2 different types of discrimination.

Is that even legal? No wonder there aren't many jobs left these days for American citizens.

Affirmative Action is another form of discrimination in reverse against the white man. For the Blacks, it's a form of "Reparations", which is absurd today. Show me a Black person living today and working for BP who was a slave during his/her lifetime. Absolutely none.

So true on #reversediscrimination at Cummins

Reverse discrimination.. unless you are a minority you will never get a promotion. Managers are rated on the diversity of the people that the promote in their department, not for promoting the best qualified. If you are a white male, you are screwed.

I'll make it simple for you - if you are white, and if it's assumed that whites discriminate, a reverse discrimination case would be the one where the other ethnic or racial groups would to discriminate against a white person. I am yet to see this but it's theoretically possible. I am white and work with mostly white folks, it'll be very hard for someone to discriminate against me, however in a geography or department where a different ethnic group may be dominant (e.g. #Indians in IT) I can see #reversediscrimination as something that's absolutely possible. Have you had a different experience?
