My GM experience can best be described as "numbing". Even before the firings, I noticed how miserable most employees were and that showed in how they treated each other. I didn't expect a hug-fest environment, but also didn't expect the Hunger Games... — read more

Compare Notes on Those Targeted vs Those Who Where Not

Trying to see if there was any logic other than target cost ... In our case the first person on the list of cuts was one of the most senior people ... but definitely the one with the highest salary. Then there were some new hires (who probably got... — read more

NO CONFINDENCE Vote on GM Sr Leadership

I vote NO CONFIDENCE in GM Senior Leadership Starting With M Barra (Who as a former VP of HR should know better). How could any competent leader have as many new hires as GM in the last 5 years ... and then implement such draconian cuts (including... — read more

Two sides of the TRACK program

I think it really depends on the individual and jobs you get when you're in your TRACK rotation. I learned and gained a lot of knowledge working on different programs at different times of the GVDP. I was able to grow a huge network through all of... — read more

Some light activity in WTC Design

HR room which had been empty all week now has a few people in it. The conference room closed sign has been on the door all week but the door has been left open. Door is shut now with the sign still on it. Not a lot of activity but a change.

Death Row empty today in Engineering West

Just walked through the aisle of conference rooms where "the talk" has been occurring. No HR or security down there as of current.

Finally it dawns...

This all looks so much like a prep for a sale/merger. While that may soon happen, before that is this prep for a SPLIT, from Cruise. They want Legacy GM to look good on paper when it goes freestanding.

Pontiac Engineering Center

Any information out there on separations being carried out at Pontiac? With the weather day yesterday it seems activity was suspended. I would suspect today things would be crazy but it seems quiet

Layoffs happen yearly

Layoffs happen yearly, and it's not advertised. Usually it mostly affects the contract personnel depending on the program. The reason why this one was made public, is because not enough salaried took the buyouts. Every 8-10 years, GM bloats it's... — read more

This is not the worst in GM history...
