WFH

Elon Musk’s words of wisdom all the Covid stay-at-home stuff has tricked people into thinking that you don’t actually need to work hard. Rude awakening inbound!

Returning as a Contractor After Retirement

I recently retired and considering returning as a contractor for a position that is very specific to my 30+ years experience. For those of you in a similar situation, how much pay were you able to demand? More or less than your XOM salary? Since... — read more

Compression / Pay Increases

We all know about the 3% that we got here in the US but any other countries seeing any further pay increases due to the high attrition? Or is high attrition in other countries just wanted and part of the plan.

What is our current attrition rate

Seems like attrition is still fairly high; must be lower than last year but every day seems like LinkedIN is going crazy with cube pictures. No changes in stance; performance assessment NI beatings continues until morale improves

Burning Bridges

I have the impression that Exxon has burned a lot of bridges with the other major companies. This is going make it difficult to generate new business.

Moving into management

I would rather leave this industry but I wonder how many tend to move into management?

Trading Forum

What is the goal? No news on the meeting this morning. Almost no questions…,this shows the moral of this company.

LinkedIn S-uckers

These ba----ds do not even leave small D&I and Asian networking events. They show up only to lick management boots. And the repeat post tagging all the managers and VPs is purely gut renching disgusting.

It pays to be new!

I'm training a new experienced hire. She has a little less experience than me but hired in as a CL26 and is earning $75k more than me! Is anyone else seeing this in their areas?

I am not responding to any employee surveys anymore

I used to be generious when it came to surveys, I'd provide detail, try to be creative etc. 10 years into this I realize that nothing ever changes and that it's foolish to waste time on providing feedback if the management will not act on any of it... — read more

What happened to Brazil's LCM?

(No names please) I certainly know corp's upstream campaigns there have been nothing but a disaster, though a straight executive termination/separation is something unheard (to me) while working for XOM.

How much to wait

Does anyone know how long you need to wait before you can be hired as a consultant after retiring?

Is 2009 comparison appropriate?

I just read the article and it's not bad, but I'm not sure about the author's comparison with 2009. Here it is: https://seekingalpha.com/article/4513917-exxon-mobil-there-will-be-blood

Internal job board would be cool.

You could get an idea of wide rang of job types and maybe see where you want to aim your career. Would be good to have a specific goal or ideal job to work towards. This could establish more self ownership of one's future.

Can you jump CL levels?

I was told my sls that I was considered for a supervisory role but since I was a CL23 it would be too much of a CL jump Can you jump CLs? Or is it where you have to do so many years per cl?

Sponsor system

I am glad that someone here mentioned sponsors. I think that the sponsor system is one of the main reasons for the departure of best employees and the decline of this company in general. Do you agree?

How long does it take to find a new job?

They say the job market is hot right now. I have made a definite decision to leave XOM, so some experiences and advice from people that already left to company or from people that know people that left might come in handy. How long does it generally... — read more

Any Former EM get lump sum pension?

EM "alumni" here. Received docs for a "one time" lump sum pension cash out. I'm torn on this. Seems marginally better to not take the lump sum - between amount paid and for tax purposes, but not sure EM will be around in 25+ years with sufficient... — read more

A lot of cleaning is needed

There are too many redundant roles throughout XOM, we have people who are happy to start political wars, territorial managers (and employees) who limit cooperation and even try to claim your work as theirs, and so many other things. We need a major... — read more

Anyone else feeling beaten down?

After many years working here, things just aren’t exciting like they used to be. I dread work even day. Awful leadership tanked morale and ruined trust.

Offered role at Billings Refinery

Been offered a transfer to Billings Refinery. Anyone work there with insights as to what the culture is like there? Is it heavy in politics? How are the BTLs? Is there a group to avoid working for?
