Has anybody gotten any value from the S&D Advisors or Managers? Seems like the most incompetent folks in the role screwing up assignments. What a waste.

They are worthless.
HiPos and sponsored people often work side deals within their networks for their next great assignment. Then they go to S&D to implement.
If not a HiPo or have a Sponsor, you get in very big trouble trying to network into a new assignment.
S&D main focus is catering to the HiPo and Sponsored. Any small effort to staff normal positions is performed at their convenience when not servicing HiPos.
I requested a meeting with my S&D advisor. NO RESPONSE.

What is S&D…..?
My experience us that S&D managers act like facilitators for the process. People who have set trajectories and expected paths still require final planning and approvals. Best bet is to discuss plans and possibilities with your upline executive and then use the S&D manager to facilitate.
The only people who have planned next roles are HiPos. Everyone else it is just a matter of what happens to be open when you need to be moved.
S&D is EXCLUSIVELY there for high flyers.
For everyone else, you get a random game of musical chairs, as defined by the Career Connect database. Best of luck.

It is very much a power role that team doesn't want to give up. Maybe the high flyers need it but the majority of people do not.
You have to figure out your next role yourself. Then discuss with your boss. That is the only way you’ll get into roles that interest you and that you can grow from.
They never offered a single role to me. As others have said, if you're not top quintile there's no plan for it, all they do is staff the projects or the sections.
They don’t need staffing and development. Especially when they have no experience or an understanding of the work that needs to be done. Waste of time
This can easily be solved by having open job posting. No more back channel funny business.
As others have said - they are just figure heads. I've spoken to several (my skill area is pretty broad). Years of experience and they can't articulate what to do with me. How far this company has fallen.
There is no such thing as staffing and development. Ever.
Complete misalignment of my skills and career interest with new role. Two years of misery. Even when I raised the flag on where I can have the most impact, nobody listened and appeared more interested in protecting their fiefdom.
Left the company. Their lost.
When I had a sponsor, HR and S&D chatted me up all the time; since then nothing.
No sponsor. Only had to be proactive 1) target a group I would like to join. 2) connect with the hiring manager 3) inform my S&D of the opportunity 4) keep the connections and wait until it happened
You must have a sponsor if S&D assisted you.
My S&D helped me to get my dream job. No complains
I requested a meeting with my S&D rep months ago.
No response at all.
She seems completely uninterested in discussing my career. (I do not have a Sponsor)
