I've started limiting myself to one square of UP toilet paper per bathroom break. As a bonus I'm no longer using the soap and water either.
More jobs to be eliminated this week
Training positions in all departments will be eliminated this week. Employees in those positions that have seniority will be sent back to craft, if they do not have seniority they will be escorted off property.
Write letters to the Board of Directors?
Has anyone written a letter to the Board of Directors? Would be interesting to know if it would do any good or not.
Service Units Managers
“These cuts to our general and administrative structure typically do not affect those on the ground,” said Kristen South, Union Pacific public relations representative. “Usually, these are not the people moving or working on the trains.” As a result... — read more
Quit hoping Lance will read this. He isn’t and never will
Not sure why people keep “hoping” Lance will read this. Everyone here knows how to email, call, or write him. Yet you hope and wish he reads this. That’s an easy solution. Tell him. But I certainly understand being scared of him. He holds a lot of... — read more
What I learned while working for the UP!
What I learned while working for the UP is really a hard one to describe in complete detail! The biggest thing I learned is that trusting someone is a no-no! The management team has gotten increasingly hostile towards the people on the ground! When... — read more
Pueblo co
(Pueblo co yard) 4 machinists gone! No more mechanical in Pueblo! I was told they could bump any set up apprentice on the system, but you go with no seniority.
Severance paperwork?
Has anybody received their severance paperwork? I was told it would be emailed by the end of this week. It’s almost 5 o’clock on Friday and I’ve received nothing.
Ethical Dilemma
Both Lance and Beth expressed in the September Town Hall that there were NOT plans to immediately and deeply cut workforce similar to what happened at CSX (listen to itfor quotes). In the August Town Hall, Lance stated there were no planned layoffs... — read more
Retirement
What the railroads need to do is offer retirement annuities no matter what age. Just reduce the amount. If a person works 30 years 100% 10yrs 33.33% and offer insurance at the current employee rate until 65. I’ll bet they could eliminate jobs easy... — read more
More cuts despite improved profits
Did anybody else read this? Union Pacific delivered a 33 percent improvement in its third-quarter profit, and executives discussed more details of their plan to cut costs at the railroad. So we are improving profits ABOVE expectations, and yet more... — read more

No gain from the mass walkout
A mass walkout or strike would solve NOTHING WHATSOEVER! They have these people called borrow-outs! They can simply bring in others from different locations, until the walkouts could be replaced! The idea of a mass walkout by employees to signal... — read more
Where did August 16th Lance and Beth go?
Here are a couple sound bytes from August 16th to brighten your day: “My goal is to move very quickly to help employees feel very very very good about the experience they’re having at Union Pacific.” ~Beth Whited “We’re working hard to make sure that... — read more
Will UP be moving headquarters?
There arer rumors that UP is moving headquarters after PSR is fully implemented. I can't see them doing this?!?! But what are they going to do with the big HQ building when there's hardly anyone left in it after reductions. I would think there would... — read more
1 Man Crews
Next 1 Man train crews. It's coming. UP rules. Unions are weak and worthless. Bye bye conductors.
Layoffs were in the making a long time ago..
Think for a minute. The reason up has gone through wave after wave of layoff/forced retirement/hr botched initiatives/scare people off/ or implicate them in a manufactured crisis, is simple. The deep rooted nepotism, cronyism, old boy network, and... — read more
Number too small

Layoffs tomorrow

Time to strike
Time for the union people and the leaders to strike. It is the only way to force out a terrible CEO. The common worker has no rights in a company, but unions do. They are only biding their time till they can work it out to do mass union layoffs.
