Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Write letters to the Board of Directors?

Has anyone written a letter to the Board of Directors? Would be interesting to know if it would do any good or not.

Yeah as a matter of fact, Lance can do what he wants! The board of directors is staffed by directors of different corporations, and others from within the company! The board of directors DOES NOT have a controlling hand in the company, unless its directly related to finance! The board of directors only interest is from a financial standpoint, and nothing else! They simply CANNOT interfere with company policy or actions! I think you should have a comprehension class in business! You are the one that doesn't seem to have a clue! Those "internet tough guys" are the ones affected by these current layoffs! These are the same guys that got the company to where it is today! Guess what they were hired for a reason! These are the same guys that have families that depend on them! You yourself can believe whatever you want and have an opinion, just like the rest of us! Simply telling people to get a clue, or telling them they need a reading comprehension class is just a little too insensitive! If you feel people are overreacting, then maybe you should find these people and tell them face-to-face! Use your imagination on what would happen next! Being let go after 20+ years, and then having someone like you telling them they need to get a clue, would be super cool to watch!

You people need a class in reading comprehension, if you even know what that means. I said if the railroad can sell these cuts as being positions that are no longer necessary, you won’t get any argument from outside the railroad.

As for the board knowing, do you really believe Lance could do this without their knowledge? Do you think they first heard about it by reading the details on their local news station’s website?? They had the plan long before we started spreading incorrect rumors about it. Can you imagine the board’s reaction to Lance taking matters into his own hands? Seriously people, get a f’in clue. Billions are at stake here so they all have to neon the same page.

You want to call me names for pointing out the truth, go right ahead if it makes you feel better. Internet tough guys... lol. And please start that letter writing campaign. I’ll be waiting for that press release from UP saying that they’re changing their minds and stopping the reduction.

The board knows what is going on? Are you sure about that?! The board has no clue about what is going on, until the numbers go to sh--! When it all implodes, what do you think will happen? The board is run by mostly people the UP services! The G55+0 initiative was failing from the beginning, due to the rapid implementation! The first round of cuts took place due to this! Then came the Unified Plan 2020! Its merely Precision Scheduled Railroading, to help in the effort to achieve the G55+0 initiative! The cuts have been taking place since the G55+0 b---s--- took place! The cuts are not going to end until then! We didn't have this before Fritz, and look what we have now! We have Fritz Almighty! I'm sorry folks, but this railroad is going to gut itself! Will the UP achieve 55%, maybe! Does ANYONE really believe that it's sustainable?! There's too many people within that company that really believe in them! The customer service is going to drop! You'll have no crews to run the trains! You'll have delayed trains! You'll have derailed trains! You'll have no people on the ground for emergency work! But hey well be at 55%, just in time to watch that sh--head Fritz retire with a healthy benefits package! Then the person that takes over, will be left to clean it up! Anyone here take ever take physics? One of the laws of physics that most people already know is that for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction! What goes up, must come down! It's Newton's third law of motion! I've seen this WAY too many times with other companies! A--hole CEOs think they have the best ideas! You make drastic changes, then you'll have drastic consequences! I simply don't give one f--- what degree sh-- Fritz has! I love physics! Cut your employee base to get your 55%! Okay then what do you think will happen business levels fall? Business goes down, and operating ratio goes back up! Then comes more cuts, and operating ratio goes down! Business levels go back up, and you have no one left because of the deep f---ing cuts! I really recommend for everyone to research company failures and why they happened! Most of them were because of f---tard CEOs like this one!

There IS reason to disagree with what management is doing, you AJole. When it's being done purely because of GREED, then we do object and we are certainly offended. It's very sad that some folks actually defend this behavior, but this evil world is full of self-serving selfish Ajoles like yourself. Geesh.

Writing letters will do nothing. Lance doesn’t work in a vacuum - the board knows exactly what’s going on. But looking from the outside in, there’s no reason to disagree with what management is doing. Think about how this is being packaged. Lance himself mentioned “control” and “oversight” as reasons for the reductions. It would be nearly impossible to convince ANY company to stop a reduction of jobs that they believe are unnecessary. And Lance has also said they’re reducing positions that have no direct correlation with running a railroad.

I never like job reductions, but if you work at the railroad you KNOW they are deep with these kind of positions and duplicate work. I’m not saying all the cuts make sense, but some cutting and consolidation is inevitable.

Yes, you must go outside the company. It would be great if the paper would run an article or live news though I doubt they would but you never know. The sound bites from the August town hall alone are news worthy

Yeah it might do some good if they actually get it, instead handled by their secretaries! Writing a letter to the board won't do a damn thing! Anyone and everyone must think outside the box on this and go higher! Write a letter to your congressman! Surprisingly that will actually get partial results! Whether or not it'll do anything is entirely up to your congressman! If the letter makes it to the board, it will almost definitely go right to Fritz himself! Use your imagination about what will happen after that! If people would simply keep the pressure up, eventually something will give! Fritz has been doing people wrong ever since he took charge! People are under the impression he's almost untouchable! WRONG! He can be removed just as easily as we were! He's not invincible in his position! The board CAN have him removed if the board vote on the misdirection of the company! The company has really gone to shut in the last few years! The lies and deceit that come from the glass palace are incredible! I can honestly say that this is the WORST company I ever worked for! The wages that are paid to the workers are NOT enough for what you have to go through! Otherwise you can make a decent living if you can avoid being furloughed, or deal with the constant onslaught of harrassment! The harassment has never been investigated, nor has it been stopped! THIS COMPANY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ITS EMPLOYEES! DO NOT WORK FOR THE UP, IF YOU HAVE PLANS OR GOALS! THE UP WILL SCREW YOU EVENTUALLY, AND WITHOUT NOTICE! THE RETIREMENT RATE WITHIN THE UP IS VERY LOW! MOST PEOPLE DONT MAKE IT TO RETIREMENT! THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO Sh--CAN YOU!

I doubt if it will do any god but if enough people did maybe they would rethink somethings. Uprr won’t take anyone back it’s their policy so they say. Anything is worth a try.
