Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

Need Advice regarding imminent mass layoffs

I’m new to mental health medications, never taken any, and I was wondering what the best anti-anxiety, antidepressant, or whatever is the best medications currently available currently in 2026 to take to deal with the stress of constantly worrying about being laid off from Comcast, not being able to pay rent, and potentially getting evicted. Feel free to be candid since this is an anonymous forum.

@OP I would consult with your psychiatrist as a comprehensive clinical diagnosis assessment is important for safe and effective prescribing of the classes of pharmaceuticals you mention. I would take full advantage of the robust mental health resources that Comcast offers in order to find a clinician that works best for you while that option is still on the table!

Well all the classical antidepressants take at least 6 to 8 weeks to kick in (Prozac, Proloft, etc). There was a new generation antidepressant released about 2 years ago or so called Auvelity that kicks in within 2 or 3 days, but I doubt Comcast insurance will cover it.

I would recommend treating the source of the problem instead of the symptoms

Ask your primary care doctor about it. And say yes when they offer you a script for Escitalopram.

This is a terrible feeling and unfortunate for many to be experiencing. You can talk to your PCP and they’ll prescribe you, though often more general. You can also ask your PCP for a referral to a psychiatrist who are the ones specialized in medications for this.

You are asking for medical advice from an anonymous site? Are you smoking crack? Talk to your dang doctor!

Best medicine is prayer and faith in whatever god or higher power that you believe in. Please stay away from antidepressants. Everything will work out fine in the end. You can try chelated magnesium glycinate capsules to calm your mind and get a decent sleep. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.
