Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Derek to retire

It was announced that Derek will “retire.” I see a lot of people retiring (asked to leave). Thoughts?

@c7

Not if failing forward is the objective. SP has just one thought: be happy that i am still around and in the C suite. If that cost you your job, he simply cannot understand why you still aren't happy for him. Beyond his bandwidth.

@d7 I think the down votes were for the lead in of "Derick's smart" no one reqd beyond that. The BE line was spot on but its tied to the Derek line

@de everyone in the bank is dealing with the 8 hour rule and is well aware how inflexible it is

Or could it be to the 4 days in office for 8 hours that pushed risk employees o er the edge causing employee surveys to tank and creating an extremely low morale crisis in risk? The RTO mandate that has been embedded into our goals gave no flexibility or work life balance. People who did not have the 4 day/8 hour requirement do not realize how inflexible it was and the pressure it placed on people.

To all of the people thinking things might improve under SP: the opposite is going to happen and things are about to get exponentially worse for all employees.

Scotty is a villain’s villain, will smile wide on camera and when shaking your hand, but he will also annihilate thousands of more careers than he already has. The man is a layoff machine (US only) and will pat you in the back with one hand while stabbing you in the abdomen with the other. A snake.

So glad I got out of WF - would be great to see the whole bank go under. F WF, Charle Derek, scott, Ekene, and the the rest of the dbags running that circus.

Worst bank AND the worst place to work.

Selfishly, as someone in COO who has survived multiple rounds of layoffs by the skin of my teeth, I'm hoping this is an indicator that the c-suite thinks COO is mostly right-sized at this point. They're shifting their best hatchet man to the function that they think still has the most room to shrink.

Good luck risk folks, you'll need it

@aj, Priceless "Bridget couldn't muster the effort to finish college and tries to pass off she was at Bell Labs rubbing shoulders giving tips to nobel prize winners." Why so many down votes? BE has been at this bank for almost 2 years. In the past there was the "Why isn't Sam coding camp". Now I guess there is a why isn't BE AI-ing yet camp. This bank is doomed.

First order of business should be dismantling Risk Asset Review…redundant and ineffective.

Scott will implement what’s need and consolidate the mass army of the box checkers and many layers incompetent of managers that run them.

the fact they are bringing in from someone outside of IRM (vs promoting SUMO or BJ) makes it pretty clear they want an outsider to rip the place apart. what fools, DF started by dismantling the program on paper and now SP will finish the job by gutting the place!

Derek and Scott are 2 of the same kind, things never get better here and that’s not something that Charlie wants. Scott is big on cuts, they just let go a whole lot of folks in controls in California and New York 2 weeks ago. I guess the remainder of San Francisco folks and Concord should start packing.

Keeping it real- Scott was the principal architect of RTO in 2002, he launched and oversaw location strategy execution across the enterprise, his fingerprints are all over the 3 days/8 hours mandates and then handed it off to Bei to administer, and lastly- COO is a super-user of growing our presence in India and the Philippines. So, you know what you are getting. Get ready .

@af+1m3801rc6

Exactly right. Under Scotty COO has been #1 in downsizing for years now. If you're in Risk, prepare for massive and persistent cuts to the bone. None of it will make sense, and Scotty doesn't give an S. He's low skill and ruthless. Literally every decision hinges on whether or not it will reduce FTEs. If so, it's good, if not, it won't be approved. Great idea in a place like Risk, right? It will fail eventually, but the Shart / Scotty axis will probably have moved on by the time it does.

Never worked under DF or SUMO but met them at conferences over the years. Let me tell you both of them are a55holes. Derek has no social skills and SUMO comes off for the first 30 secs as likable but then she starts talking and you realize what an a55hole she really is. Every external person at the conference couldn’t wait to get away from her

Glad for a change but SP doesn’t exactly have a good track history of successful stuff under his belt - data and AI, complaints and escalations, control, global operations, didn’t he have issues for a hot minute? I find it interesting that he has a risk background because those functions don’t seem to reflect that. Time will tell…..

Derek's smart, that's a huge loss. Rest of the executives are who's who of low IQ dummies. Charlie has a sociology degree raised a nepo baby. Bridget couldn't muster the effort to finish college and tries to pass off she was at Bell Labs rubbing shoulders giving tips to nobel prize winners. I worry private credit blows up here soon, and our ranks are filled with a bunch of, do da needful crew with toilet paper engineering degrees trying to fake it talking honey while everything blows up. Ship will sink fast.
