If you take a lower position then what you have currently, does your pay remain the same?

I've done this went from a B10 to C5 due to being laid off thanks AI, but as long as your pay is in the same scale and this varies per where you work but US position say like 40k - 65k range as long as your current pay falls in that theyll keep you the same no raise, if you are over the range amount they'll offer you the highest of the range.
It depends on how lower you go. If you go one grade below you get to keep your current grade. Well you are supposed to, but who know now with Jankey Jane.
"lower position" is vague. If you change paygrades of course your pay and bonus pool changes too.
In the U.K yes unless you leave the organisation and then come back into the new role. Don't think they can legally decrease your salary so it gets a bit messy.
