If the number doesn't look good, here is the upside. Disappointing Q3 will guarantee RA for Arvind and much of the executives.

This sums up Albany perfectly. It’s been run by the same small group of people and their loyal followers for decades, and the results speak for themselves. Nothing truly significant ever seems to come out of Albany. It’s an enormous cost center for IBM, and they consistently miss, fumble, or squander nearly every major opportunity that comes their way. And as long as the same people and leaders continue to benefit from the status quo, there seems to be little incentive to change it.
I suspect IBM is practicing the old adage of “never let a good crisis go to waste”. What does that portend? IBM most likely has 3rd q made. NOTE The make is based of moved downsized goal posts. I suspect the bigger news to come out of 3rd q earnings will be a restructuring of IBM, much like Ginni did in 2014 when she spun off microelectronics. This time big parts of infrastructure are in the bullseye

No special warning letter to shareholders this quarter, at least not yet. Or maybe the takeaway from the last one is to just keep quiet and let them be surprised on the earnings call.
