Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Potential Discussion with Journalist

Transferred from FB Retirement page - I was surplused recently, prior to that I had to travel significantly due to RTO. I am now being approached by a journalist to discuss my experiences.
For those that were surplused, did we sign anything that does not allow us to be interviewed or discuss our opinions on AT&T RTO / FTW to news media?

Can I talk to your journalist about getting placed on the surplus list while being on FMLA? They can't do that, right? But they can deny severance unless you sign the paper that says you won't take legal action against them. Felt a little like extortion. I did get an attorney but his words were, since I got a higher paying job well within my 6 months of sev pay, I'd probably never get a dime from AT&T.

I don't want anything but it would be great to be on the class action if such a thing exists.

Which news outlet? I am no longer employed with them, no severance signed. I wouldn't mind sharing a number of bombshells with the media.

@cx This post was originated on the AT&T Retirement Group on Facebook. The OP just transferred it to this forum for visibility and comments.

Don't tell the reporter about how it was Randall/John decision to give TMO life many years ago. Or about John's decision to acquire DTV and TW and then become CEO of Warner Media. Don't want the reporter to know how innovation here is a new pricing plan. Don't tell the reporter how he's singlehandedly driven the culture into the ground at both WM and here. Dn't tell the reporter how there was an entire communications plan around last year's employee survey that John personally ripped up and delivered an 8 page rant. Certainly don't tell the reporter about how they are monitoring our location, our keystrokes and breaking every privacy law. Don't say any of this!

@cs While I agree with the op, it also seems like the op is the same troll that posts here multiple times daily with a bunch of unhinged bs. Seems like this post is nonsense and he’s trying to excite the c suite as if they give a ph--k

you are allowed to speak to a journalist about how you felt. In fact, I think more should be shared about how Stankey took away employee retiree benefits for older workers and pensions for younger workers. Describing what it feels like to work there is a freedom you get to express. T can only argue that it’s your opinion not fact but if enough people share their real life stories maybe a journalist out there will have the ba--s to pick up the story and talk about what a horrible workplace the CEO has developed and loves to live in. Good luck and go forward and don’t be afraid. Hopefully your story will be heard.

Sometimes there is a non disparagement clause in severance agreement. Wouldn't be surprised if att puts one in theirs. Might or might not be legally enforceable.
