Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

My team is filled with scam artists

They always act like they're doing something, they always have to talk about something to the manager to make it seem they're so busy, but at the end of it all, they end up doing nothing! It's the rest of us that do the actual work. they just appear busy. How do you even deal with people like this when they have your manager's ear?

It truly is a talent that many posses at T. If you can't beat them join them at their own game.

It’s the new market based culture. Includes such things as:

  1. Working the minimum hours necessary
  2. Taking advantage of all of my available time off to maximize my profits
  3. Doing as little as possible, since I don’t get paid more to do more
  4. Working my wage and my job title

Happy to do more than what is required, but I expect to be compensated for that. #marketbased

Son, this is real life. Get used to it! It doesn't matter where you work, you may suspect similar behaviors from some coworkers.
Eventually you'll figure out how to ignore what you can't control.

@OP They are not scam artists . . . they are market based employees.

"How do you even deal with people like this when they have your manager's ear?"

Ignore them while aggressively applying to find a new job elsewhere.

People such as those coworkers of yours are never going to change, and neither will the dum@ss mgr. who's so unplugged from what's really going (or not going) on, that they're falling for such BS.

Find something somewhere else, and make sure it pays a lot more, too.
Give yourself the gift of getting out, and with a substantal pay increase, to boot!

The employees that you are describing will eventually make their way up (as in promotions). That is how it works at AT&T, sc-m rises to the top. Heck, look at Stank and his DRs, pretty sc-mmy from what I see.

This is the culture big stink created. Bootlickers are hoodwinked and now doing the work of 2-3 people who are mentally burned out and checked out and no longer care. Loyalty and respect are a two way street and both are dead per the CEO.

I tossed in the towel early in my career. Too many Peter Principle types at ATT. It was like being a thoroughbred at the very back of the marathon line. I just collected check and benes for 20 years plus and spent more type studying stocks and investments. Retired late 40s and laughed at all the masses at ATT. Seriously there are so many dolts at Director and above that simply fall in line and don't add any value. How do you think Stankey and Stephenson pulled off so many disasters?

The horror of people not busting a-s for this shithole, after all they've done for us 😱

If you care about this, if you committed to regularly "do[ing] the actual work", you are nothing but a bootlicker. Isn't executive compensation already high enough?

For anyone "guilty" of slacking, shirking, skating, or otherwise avoiding work, I salute you 💯💯💯
