I have been impacted when I was promised promotion next year. They said I will get promoted because of my performance then why layoff( confused)

I was promoted this year and still was let go. This is brutal and unpredictable.
Every quarter there is layoffs, this is because the layoff is used to hide the big loss quarter by quarter. The layoff is counted as "operational saving", and it is used as a trick to fool the public is each quarter by CEO. This CEO uses tricks such as layoff right before quarterly earnings report to fool the market.
There was no warn notice, they happened last week, last day is end of September

Sorry friend. It su-ks to work hard and put the effort in, only to get the rug pulled out from under you anyway. We've lost a lot of good ones over the last 2 years of constant layoffs. I wish you luck moving forward
