Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

If below meets in year end review what is the next step

Hi. I got below meet in mid term review and for no reason. Manager is having monthly one on one and bringing all kind of nonsense to show am not working enough even though it's otherwise. So i can see in year end he woll give below meets. What happens next...do they lay me off in January or February..no severance? No bonus? Or they can kick me out before jan too?

@a7 same here and all made up, couldn't give me any specifics and all previous were meets. Didn't see a way to dispute or add anything in Workday. How did you dispute it?

@vt more info or I'm calling BS. If it were happening, we'd be hearing about it more than we are. People would be screaming from the rooftops.

I have a hard time believing anyone has been 'fired' 'for cause' without severance.

@ac this is definitely happening. Is it even legal?

After almost 20 years of service, got an IM midyear. Several months later? Gone. I was the low hanging fruit apparently. It isn't right. Don't hide the BS. Just do the big layoff and get it over with. Would be better for everyone. Of course, having been here for 20 years.....the best way is NEVER chosen at WF. LOL, not once.

@et

“I really want you to succeed “ always means the opposite. I believe managers are trained to say this and then note it for future defensive measures. It's fairly obvious. Once you hear that it's over. Evidence is needed to counter motive and unfortunately the cats out of the bag at this point. A union is needed.

contrived performance ratings and well choreographed, long term dotting of i's to methodically terminate certain folks and do so in such a manner as to try to destroy the individual. a viable approach in their eyes, but those masterminds will bail for another exec job. the accomplices left behimd are incentivized to produce evidence to get promotions. the definition of toxic. corrupt to the core.

@OP when I received an IM and my manager told me “I really want you to succeed “, I started looking. Found something for 25% more.

@cm I’m obviously anon but I would agree with this post with one clarification. IM at mid year to be let go at year end means you need IM for year end year before and then current mid year. Ratings are in by Nov and calibrations are already starting at that point.

2 IM will be let go with no severance and marked ineligible for rehire. If 2 at midyear you will be let go before end of November. They are doing by end of November so they don’t have to pay you your 401k match for the year…. Another way to discreetly out over. Look at the employee handbook and familiarize yourself with performance expectations as you won’t have access to this once they let you go. Be sure to document everything.

Any or all of your worst case scenarios. Definitely no severance from how you are describing. Start focusing on finding your next job.

You are being managed out, so you will more likely to be fired not laid off

I heard from a couple of managers that they were instructed that they MUST give “not meets” ratings for a certain percentage of their employees, even if the employee is performing as expected. There was no wiggle room, with the argument that everyone in a team cannot be performing at the same level, and some must be lower than others.

I am convinced it is just because they want to drive people out since not enough people have quit to help their stock prices go up.

If you get fired for cause it means they don’t need to pay out the things you earned, and depending on where you live you won’t be eligible for unemployment benefits through your state since it was “for cause”.

They want to shrink their workforce but not have to pay for it.

This was my experience and I got terminated in a beginning of December last year. No bonus, severance or 401k match. Good luck, hope your outcome will be better.

Had the EXACT experience and got my very first below meets after 20 years with no warning or prior discussions. The reasons made absolutely no sense at all and disputing it was even harder. I still got a bonus but not as much and no merit increase (Pennies). Then my team and a few others were displaced shortly. I surprisingly got a meets once I reported to a new manager but I think severance is based off of years of service vs a rating which I thought I would be sc--wed too. Being displaced was the biggest favor they did for me. I got to spend time with family, travel, and find a better company to work for.

@a2 thanks for replying. So usually what would be timeline after the yearly meet review? Oct nov when they decide the rating or Jan feb when they talk abt compensation?

I would assume they’re trying to build a case to fire with no severance

I got below meets out of nowhere for 2025. Was sure I was gonna be kicked out by now but I got a meets for mid-year. Had to do those stupid check ins as well. All you can do is prepare for the worst. I think if I get below meets again year end they’ll fire me since it would be my second overall
