RSU vesting

Can someone explain to me why unvested RSU needs to be forfeited when you leave the company.

RSUs are given as part of compensation for the work performed for the company. How can the company take away the compensation when you leave ? Isn’t this wage theft?

Correct, the vesting to continue after separation because it was promised as part of compensation.

Yes, we understand the definition of what an RSU is. But I agree with OP. It’s a bit ridiculous that they’re allowed to withhold part of today’s compensation, tie it to a single stock’s performance, and trickle it to us over four years, but only if we don’t leave or get CPM’d.

I get that it’s a retention device, fine. But we should be fully vested upon a CPM.

Simple online search or asking your hr would answer your question:

Unvested RSUs are company shares promised to you as compensation that you do not yet fully own because you have not met the required time or performance conditions

@c3

Read the question, then read it again till it gets into your head.

Question is about wage theft due to forfeiting unvested stocks.

Question is not about whether OP has any stocks left to vest

That's just one of the "clever" tricks Intel plays to shortchange the employees it lays off. You do the work now and get rewarded over 4 years for it. If you leave or let go, you don't get rewarded at all. Great scheme isn't it?

The ironic thing is this is a company that forces annual training on ethics and code of conduct. What a load of b*llocks!

I don't believe OP has any RSU left to vest

They get you to work hard and your bonus is RSUs. They fire you before they have to pay you in full

@aq

Because it was part of compensation for work performed 4 years prior. This is how companies cheat and keep you poor

It is a treat or cheat sh-t way to keep you stay at shitTel longer. If they don't need you anymore why should they give it to you OP?

@a5

Then it should not be counted as compensation. Compensation should not be conditional

only vested belongs to you. unvested does not belong to you until they are vested

I don't believe OP ever worked for Intel, so RSU should not be an issue.

Besides, RSU are compensation for work. Trolling is not work.
