Where's the bridge to Medicare?

Just returned from vacation to find that the long awaited enhanced package has arrived. I don't see a bridge to Medicare in this offer. I guess I'll be staying for the four guaranteed years of the latest contract extension. I guess the company wants a bunch of sixty four year old semi disabled people on their payroll.

Medical costs are outrageous. I'll take four more years of guaranteed employment.

@e4 Uhhh, ya think. Thank the union for their stellar negotiations years ago that flat out sc--wed their retirees. But, it is still doable and go enjoy retirement.

@cj Medical will cost a lot more in retirement than what you pay while employed.

@ch Do you really thinks that’s a lot for what you get and the number of people you have covered? Wake up and see what lots of other folks are paying! Stop whining and grow up!

@b0 why, yes, I have. And once you reach 65 you pay him less. Plus, once you retire you don’t pay Union dues, pay less for gas to commute, and possibly no more EZ Pass. Win, win.
And anyone so concerned about healthcare costs needs to go out this November and vote for people trying to get all of us a better deal.

@OP You all are acting like you don’t pay for medical now. Pretty sure a family plan cost you 200-300 a month now.

@OP Union sc--wed their members big time on the retiree medical issue. That being said, a person retiring with the package should be able to afford the cost of the premium.

How long do you suggest the bridge to Medicare be?
Will the 6 months of company sponsored medical cover it?
Will the up to 4 years of monthly payments cover it?
Will the $50K bonus cover it?
Anyone who is 64 and on otherwise sound financial ground should probably be ok.

@OP That’ll show em! Don’t go enjoy a well deserved retirement and keep working.

@OP ya sorry man I find it hard the unions could not have fought harder to get something more included in this package.Along with the package should have been offered to everyone. But I get it always at the company discretion. But too bad we just don’t have the strength to demand more
