Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

When's the next town hall?

I have a few questions I'd like to submit.

Your IP address is tracked by EMIT and reported back to your manager if you did not complete the survey.

@bt I love how we get told it’s voluntary and anonymous but somehow the managers knew who hadn’t completed it and said please do it before the deadline on Friday lol. Then we get told that morale and engagement is better because more people completed the “voluntary” survey.

@bt They skipped doing the survey for 2026 because “there are so many changes to the organization as to produce invalid results” until we’ve had time to let them sink in. Or, are they skipping the survey to ghost further surveys? Time will tell.

Employees complained for years that the ranking system was unfair. When leadership finally decided to change it, protections against dramatic moves, such as going from the top quintile to the bottom quintile in a single year rather than declining gradually and NRE protections were removed. Why, after years of employees asking leadership to make the ranking system better, did leadership finally change it by making it worse? Was that intentional?

@OP The company cites employee surveys as evidence that engagement is improving and the culture is strengthening. Given continued employee concerns about morale, relative ranking, job security, workload, and the shifting work to cheap countries, how does leadership validate that the survey accurately reflects employee sentiment rather than simply producing the results leadership wants to see?

@bn that’s “less people”, esp in HC10, and we are well on the way there now. Those who are still here are all, in fact, doing more.

with all the focus on ai, efficiency, and doing more with less, when exactly do we get to the "doing les" part?

Here is mine:

  • With oil over $100, should employees expect a cost-of-living adjustment, or are we supposed to buy Exxon stock and hedge ourselves
