Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Has anyone reviewed their OWBPA?

Has anyone looked at the distribution of RIF employees? For those who were part of the RIF it should be in workday. It’s a 47 page document. Just curious what your thoughts are. I reviewed the data by extracting the PDF into and excel. I wanted to analyze it because I wanted to see what the age distribution was. I can safely say that 40+ vs 40 under age range did not have a statistical significance.associated with selection of older employees at least for the line I reviewed. The selection rate was also evenly spaced out among age bands between 8-11% on any age group. There was a disproportionate impact on Sales teams at 30%+ percent accounting for the majority of the RIF. I don’t believe these numbers include the VSP numbers.

Mine said based on 2024 performance review and 2025….i never had a 2024 review because I wasn’t there and my 2025 review was created after only 7 months with my supervisor.

@h9 Same with me. Although, I had quit due to a bully associate director and bully director and I was a nice guy and gave them 6 weeks notice so as to train 4 people to do my 1 job. What a dummy I was for doing that! Anyway, although I suppose with my training, they are probably limping along, they don’t have my critical thinking skills so anytime there is the slightest issue a process, or a needed change, I am sure they are either struggling, or making a lying excuse that something was wrong with my process and they need to “fix” it but will take lots of time. Lol.

We were not part of those closed door conversations, but it is not difficult to put the pieces together. I had great reviews - no performance issues, but evidently my skill set did not meet the business future needs.... the favorites were kept and shuffled around to cover my job who has zero idea on how to do it, where to even start or who to ask. I wish them all good luck!

@ej I read that too. Never had issues. I was a high producer and there were others less needed than me. Another dept gutted. Makes zero sense to me. I have an attorney reviewing it. This place treated me horribly.

@bj I guess I'll go with future business needs from the criteria since I was never informed of performance issues and my performance evals speak to how great of a job I did.

What I gather from the document it is saying Centene needed to reduce staff for financial and business reasons. It says employees were compared using performance, documented performance issues, skills, future business needs, and sometimes tenure. The document doesn't explain the reason for the layoff,so I am go with tenure bc I never had an issue with not performing my job duties or any performance issues. No matter. I did find new employment. That offers better pay. As a care manager I was very underpaid with Centene and had been with the company over 10 years. I was able to negotiate with my new job a salary of 98,905 with bonuses every quarter.

@ab I'm replying to myself. lol!
But if you search "centene stock", Yahoo finance seems to be the CNC info I click on the most.

anyway, at the bottom Centene Corp Overview shows this:
"61,100
Full Time Employe..."

not sure when it was last updated/verified though

@OP is this in workday for the people who declined VSP too?

how many total were "separated"?
I thought I saw 6x,x-x employees over the summer. 62K or 60.2k???

centene About Us shows: "59,800 EMPLOYEES

  • As of 6/30/2026"

btw, Centene stock is 1Y up 94.89%. to me that's high.

late last month, it showed 106% up in the last 1Year.

They split those out by department to not show the full picture. I was part of the '23 layoffs and they had each area split out. The clinical team, the BTS, each plan, so that usless we talked no one group would not see the total layoff amounts.

@OP trash 🗑️ document, very vague and leaves separation clarification a complete mystery.

@OP that’s off. Mine was included in my severance agreement and only 13 pages. I noticed a huge disparity in over 40. And for those in quality they were all over 40 and 50 to 66 !
