The biggest problem I've seen here is how much management avoids saying what they actually mean. The person who hired me back in 2008 was like that, and every team I moved to seemed to have another version of the same thing. It didn't matter who was running the group, the higher up you went, the more obvious it became. By the time you get to the VP level, it feels like nobody wants to take responsibility for anything.

If they don't toss me by EOY, I am out after bonus payout.
RajA hires non H1b and non-east Indians. Sends (all) no jobs to India. Make RajA becum new Shart.
If they told us the truth then we might respect leadership. If we respected them, more people would stay with the company. They don't want anyone to stay. Ergo, the constant bald faced lies. It's all intentional.
Wells Fargo is a sociopathy petri dish. They are incapable of honesty. They will look you right in the eye and smile and lie their faces off. The ones who succeed the most are the one who are totally untroubled by lying. I remember when people started seeing the desktop analytics icon on their screens and they asked what that was all about. Boyd Brandsrud told the whole department not to worry about it and how it was just for internal data or some such thing. They have no compunction about lying to everyone during a town hall, in a one-on-one, during a group huddle, anywhere. Whatever quaint notions about honesty or integrity you may be harboring are totally useless to you at Wells Fargo. Honesty and Integrity is a recipe for failure at WF.
I learned to keep my mouth shut. If something doesn’t work out you won’t hear the end of it and if it’s the right thing to do someone else will try to take credit. And you will just be asked to do more work. This place is a mess. I’m convinced it’s because there are so many employees that leadership doesn’t know who is good and who isn’t. So they apply the same stupid metrics to everyone. So keep your head down and hide.
@a9 happened to me, and I even got IM for it. So much gaslighting, backstabbing, throwing under the bus. I am planning my exit next year but hoping for a layoff.
@a5 add in try making a decision that is the right thing to do for team and you will get hung out to dry by senior/ executive leadership. Happened to me and I learned my lesson. Don’t speak up or else you will be determined to be a problem. I was laid off close to a year ago and life in the outside is so much better.
As a retired VP, much of it is because NO ownership is transferred to management. No rewards are given for making sound, fiscal decisions. Everything is second-guessed and no true responsibility is allowed to those on the ground. It starts at the top and the top has been so God-awful bad for years, I think it is now ingrained in the WF culture. Long retired but stay in touch with many suffering through this. It's a total sh-tshow.
