There is an email going out so don’t reach out to anyone etc etc. keep your mouth closed and pretend you don’t know anything. I imagine it’s that sort of stuff along with some threatening language. Shrug. Robot managers survive. Good ones leave or get RIF along with everyone else.

I've taken the training, and laid people off at Oracle. I NEVER follow the script, only inhumane managers do. Treat the people you have to layoff with respect, because one day you might be sitting on the other side of that table.
Every country has strict guidelines and a word by word script that managers must read… there is no room for empathy or personal comments… I have experience having to deliver bad news. The company goes from saying employees matter to treating them as disposable non-relatational entities. This explains the training we got today.
@ad When I was a manager during a previous mass layoff, HR had a meeting with managers the week before to tell us how the layoff process works: when to send the "hey can we talk" email, what you could and could not say during the "you just lost your job" call, how the paperwork is done, etc.

What does "training for RIF" even mean? It's not exactly rocket science to tell someone they're fired.
