A lot of conflicting info around here. Anyone in the know on whether the notification date will in fact be tomorrow?

It looks like it didn't happen on 9/10. At least as far as I'm aware. Were any of your teams hit with layoffs on 9/10?
@fa doubt it was a non american citizen, they're cheap labor if they were HIH and they're still cheap labor if they were contractors. I'm sure layoffs are mainly targeting onshore folks if we're being real.
@ek Guess it depends. If it was a non-American citizen in the contract role that was let go, well, seeing as how that my open up or have saved an American citizen from losing their job, then as being a person that firmly believes that every nation around the world has a responsibility first to protecting the jobs of their own citizenry, in that case, I am thankful that an American citizen did not lose their job.
Doesn’t matter what race; I just prefer for American citizens to keep their jobs first. So, if the contractor was say a German (that was not an American citizen) that lost his or her job and the employee of the company was say, I don’t know let’s just say, an Indian (who is an American citizen), then what I said in the first paragraph remains unchanged; meaning I am happy that the Indian American citizen kept his job.
Are things finally starting to make sense? NOT a race issue. It is an American citizen vs. non-American citizen issue!
@dt were they independent contractor or vendor based like Accenture?
any other news about today? seems only one regarding contractor only so far.
@dy insensitive comment, either way someone is out of a job.
Better a contractor than an employee.
We lost a contractor in IT today, final date 10/02
@dm Agree. If everyone thinks about it, every one of these corporations have a Quarterly Earnings call, every quarter on the calendar, where they answer questions and report on company status but is also when they share the specific Annual reports, Balance sheets, and other financial portfolio information, for which they are legally obligated, according to SEC rules, to supply.
Well, well to keep things simple, Revenue minus Liability equals Profit. It is much easier to control the Liability aspect of that equation and what is the easiest and quickest part of Liability to control? That’s right! It is employee headcount.
So, to make forth quarter look more profitable, executives will want to layoff a good number of employees before end of quarter.
Hope this helps. I know most of this is obvious to most so thanks for bearing with.
@ar
“October notification with a Nov 30ish term.”
This seems to be correct.
My question would be, why does it matter? If it's going to happen to you, there is nothing that you can do about it. While I understand the psychological aspect of "being prepared" I don't know that any of us will ever truly be prepared for such a paradigmn shift. Keep your resume up to date and be ready to start sending it out. That is all that any of us can do.
@b4 They are browsing, just not replying....
@as I think people are just guessing. Not necessarily lying. Most people browsing this forum are probably sr. Manager and below. Most of us don’t know what’s happening. The people who know what’s happening are not browsing this forum.
Just trying to exemplify "Lead to One" principles, both in and out of the workplace.
Ugh. Still more conflicting info. Someone is lying and I don’t know what good it does you to.
October notification with a Nov 30ish term.
Yes they will be happening with an October term date.
@af meaning notification or last day?
I’m betting the layoffs are in October.
