I actually miss working at AT&T

I spent the best part of 20 years working for AT&T. Started before SBC bought it. Throughout that time I worked with some amazingly talented people. It's sad to see it's decline. It's global presence in network was stripped to the bone. I keep seeing LinkedIn posts from people trying to promote what is now once again a US centric dead duck.

To my former colleagues, I wish you well. It still amazes me how sh1t managers survive, who call themselves leaders when everything else says the opposite.

I've seen really good, technically super savvy people get pushed out in favour of continual cost savings on an ever declining customer base.

AT&T really need to get back into what they do well and kick everything else into the long grass.

I miss the people and talent. I don't miss the nonsense.

I used to enjoy it here. It’s gone downhill since big Ed left.

So many feel this way. You don't stay at a job for more than 20 years if yo don't love it.

We forgot about you a day after you left.

I’m sure the same sentiments could be shared by those that previously worked for Pac Bell, Ameritech or BellSouth.
What a mess SBC has made of everything!

@OP It’s hard letting go of the familiar, and there are many good aspects - your accomplishments over the years, your work that supported yourself & your family for two decades, the colleagues who made the workday fun and interesting, a fairly predictable routine…definitely something that you would miss. Hope you are able to retire now and enjoy, and if not, find something that pays well and challenges you until you’re ready to retire. You did good work @OP - there are folks here right now building up from what you started. Thanks for your years of service & best wishes to you.

I think I said that I missed it for the reasons stated. Clearly the level of mo--n hasn't changed.

Oh and btw, I was a B band, not that it matters. I'm sure you can find a nice crayon to eat.
In the meantime, I'll mourn my ex colleagues and enjoy my retirement.

I just popped in here to see if the bi--hing about the company was still going.
