Does anybody know what's being planned for October?

@2ap That's great. That's great.

I'm going to use that when I meet with my board of directors. They'll love it.

@jr I really think the new Frontier is AI.

@23s yes 2 of my co workers were pip’d or written up prior to reduce severance. I was downsized in a reorg a year after they reorged. lol but got full severance because they were worried about a lawsuit. I had won an hr case against my former boss then filed for retaliation in him and the vp for giving me a “does not meet expectations “ after doing my job for 14 years and winning awards, recognition, and setting production records year after year. lol

But best thing to ever happen fell up wards, paid more now, appreciated, better PTO, and at an incredible nice place now!

I say if you can get severance it’s worth it if you are miserable just go all out with applications and effort as the market is terrible right now. But I never touched my severance and met is up to 8 people hired or promoted now to replace my production and still failing lol

@a4+1 Yes. They maintain cut lists and quotas for quarterly cuts in each department. In some departments, they make all their cuts from the bottom (Legal).

Lawyer up early. Met cut severance in half a few years ago with a “new” strategy of PIP-ing employees out the door. People without employment lawyers get sc--wed by Met, but also Met sc--ws you on taxes for any settlement.

Oh please, please let the layoffs be real.
Slow-quitting is exhausting when you grew up in the generation that learned to work hard. Unemployment at least comes with a clean break and zero guilt.

@je If they were truthful, they would just be honest and say that the New Frontier is "India".

@j5 correct. Thanks for fixing the typeo.

It's hard for people to swallow the truth. Not a single female have I seen or heard of being laid off. All males and mostly white. Never Indian.

Quiet firing each qtr. is really the new ML Frontier. Once you saw a cop car sitting outside Bridgewater (and possibly other locations), it was time to update the resume.

This c-suite wants to downsize the footprint in the US to almost nothing.

@az Downvoted because you speak the truth.

Typo in your last sentence: You mean: "not a male or or not white", right?

@aa just quiet quit and conserve your energy. To increase the chances of being liad off you need to be a white male above a certain level at the company making more money than most of your teammates and also non-managerial.

That was the pattern I've seen. If you're not a male or not a minority, you most likely won't get picked for a lay off.

@aa You aren't the only one dreaming of a layoff. I wish for it daily.

I cannot believe I still grind away at this dumpster fire of a company for the privilege of slowly dying inside. I wish the severance would finally come so I can cash out, and actually enjoy being unemployed for a few months.

@a6 the silver lining to being laid off from met was that their severance is very generous. The icing on the cake was getting a much better opportunity after only 2 months including a pay increase and non-toxic work environment.

@a4 agreed. Keep your resumes updated. Get laid off collect severance. Expect Monty’s and hundreds of applications to find new work, enjoy new place and how it’s not MetLife lol.

Aren't they just essentially doing rolling layoffs every quarter by now? That's the pattern I think I see (former employee who was laid off right after a second quarter, and knew of a coworker laid off right after the first quarter finished).
