Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike closed my account after 40 years as independent dealer. Now Nike is out of S&P100

this is KARMA. Next is Dow Jones 30, Nike can't justify for being there after results that they put last few years.

As all the S&P100 mutual funds and pension funds that follow S&P 100 strategy have to dump Nike and buy new member that has been selected. So stock might see selling pressure in near term. Not today but but near term any increase in price might get selling pressure.

As for me, I am doing fine with my retail shoe business with comfort shoes like Brooks, Hoka and Skechers. Skechers with their shoes in $60 to $75.00 range, they are doing real well and in auto pilot. Initially, I took a big hit since Nike was 60 percent of my sale.
But if Nike approached me and said that they will reopen me, I would answer by showing a universal sign of NO, my middle finger.

So all the people in this board that has been laid off or about to, I emphasize with you.

It was rough 1 year but my life is much better now then under Nike

@c9 it is called keep your friends and family close and your enemy closer.
According to one Vitto Corleone.

This Nike collapse has been cathartic to me. Better than Yoga and meditation. LOL

Every time, I think about people in Beaverton working around the campus with d-mb and worried look with their face compounded by insecurity, worries bring smile to my face.

IF YOU CAN LAID OFF FROM NIKE THEN I WANT TO SAY THAT IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. IT IS THE BEGINNING.
YOU ARE LIKE PEOPLE THAT ARE TRAPPED IN CULT SOMEWHERE.

DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY. I HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE AND I AM DOING FINE.

@fh Nike's reason for cutting independents were hubris, short sight, greed and overconfidence.
And I don't think it was MP and his cohorts alone who made that decision. PK had to sign off too.

Now, the rank of independents have dwindled and move on to different direction so even if Nike wants to open more doors, I doubt it there would be many candidates to open like in the 70s and 80s.
It takes about a million dollar of capital to open an independent shoe store that has look and facade that Nike wants so I doubt that there are many candidates who wants to open a Nike store.

In addition to it, you have to sleep with eyes open because Nike can shut you down anytime after all that investment!!!

Once burn then shame on you, twice burn then it is shame on me.

Yes if you were a part of what I’m thinking of that probably went down around 2017. People like to assume it was all during the JD/EH time but the seeds were really planted 10 years ago when we started cutting RSG accounts and pushing DTC because it was higher margin. And not to mention flooding the market with then-popular NSW shoes instead of focusing on innovation.

Gee, I wonder if we were to see why Nike cut them off if it wasn't for a valid reason.

Someone doing well would not be lurking on Nikes layoff board… just saying.
