Got a note to update my personal email address.. why would they need it ?

happened to me, then I was laid off
So they can get a hold of you after your WFR which will be part of the standard Q4 purge in a few weeks
data mining. Now your personal email will get even more scam mail.
I received the same email. Stated it was for post employment communication. Hmmm ....maybe my ticket is going to be punched soon.
In case they need to contact you after you leave (for any reason).
