Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Fraud

This week has been the perfect example that we do not matter. One coworker passed this week and all of fraud has continued on with managers acting like everything is normal. Shame on you leaders we are humans.

A employee that dies at USAA is a gift. Mgmt was celebrating (no severance!)

Like a comment on here, if you have a caring EMG, then yes, if not, then su-k it up buttercup.

Back in 2024, a lady on my team, her life was taken by her husband who then took his own life. The director only said something days later because word had spread of what happened, we had a 2 minute zoom call “it’s with sad news that I must inform y’all that S***h has passed away, please keep speculation out of the office and respect her family’s privacy during this time. We all have a job to do, let’s get back to work.”

@OP it varies on your leadership team, back in September 2019, this guy on my team passed away suddenly. He was at work that morning, a few of us went out for a few drinks after work with him. Next morning around 10am, we’re called into a conference room and being told that he suffered a medical emergency and passed away. They let us go home with pay and didn’t have to use PTO.

It's a cultural problem when leadership say they care about members but don't care about employees, and only care for themselves. Remember employees are also members, who's mission is to look after other members.

@OP what are they supposed to do? They couldn’t even identify the body right away, and then by the time notification of next of kin happens, etc., that takes time.

You’re first mistake aside from not knowing how death notifications happen is also thinking work is going to declare a day of remembrance or time off for you to mourn.

We’re all expendable. If you’re that hurt over her death, take a PTO day. It’s that simple. I hate the establishment more than the next person, but am getting tired of people thinking the company owes us something other than our paychecks and benefits.

I'm sorry for your teammate's passing. The fact that you and others care is what is important. I'd encourage you to get together and remember him. Whether at lunch, sharing stories of working with him, or create chat thread where folks can post. Thank you for being human.

Did you expect fraud to stop, over the life of one worker bee?
