R**esh exhibits a significant gap in his understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle, yet projects an all-knowing demeanor. He don't have vision. Unfortunately, he routinely dismisses constructive input from the broader team while only giving ear to a select few sycophan.

Dan Alfanso, you need to fire Pranay, Ramesh and Rahul immediately. They are corrupt, loyal to Vivek and will likely sabotage the system with planned outages.

@aw You are so much on the dot here, I am glad he is out. He brought in all the things that are wrong into the org and that has spread too deep and it is a toxic culture out there in whatever they call it VGS-T or GTS whatever
@aw Awesome insight. Vivek probably tried to present all of these to the Dan calling it progress. Instead Dan and Alfonso calling it all bogus.
@aw Ha this is impressively written. I almost forgot about the North Star failure! So many failures that come and go as we play to win. No wonder Tom Brady loves us. We’re the best in the business!
VG - Very manipulative and biased leadership style, with clear double standard between his Dallas-BOYs and rest of GTS. There is also a significant concern about his treatment of women leaders; three women leaders who were his direct reports have left the business, which raises questions about the leadership environment and management approach.
Kudos to the strong and powerful leader, VG!
Few leaders have demonstrated such a remarkable ability to create an inner kingdom, silence genuine voices, and bulldoze experienced leaders — all while presenting it as “strong leadership.” Under VG, GTS was certainly kept on its toes. In fact, people became so familiar with fear and shaming that it practically became part of the operating model.
But the real masterpiece was the mainframe modernization saga which VG embarked on 2015!
Year after year, the mainframe was apparently going to be transformed once and for all. The only thing that seemed to get modernized consistently was the name of the initiative: Order Re-Wire, Reads/Writes, Vision 2.0, and whatever came next. Each program arrived with a new vision, new slides, new architecture diagrams, and renewed promises that this time the mainframe story would finally be different. And after all those transformations? VZ is still on the mainframe!!.
Then came the ultimate crown jewel: NSA — North Star Architecture. The North Star was supposed to guide VZ toward a glorious cloud-native future. A bold new architecture. A new direction. A new beginning.
Except the North Star appears to have disappeared over the horizon with a completion note and party to celebrate, while the 20-year-old legacy components are still sitting right where they were — apparently enjoying remarkably good job security. DVS Services renamed to Domain Services, POS-BE / ESB and many more services hidden deep under the carpet.
That may actually be the most impressive achievement of all: building a “cloud-native” architecture without actually being able to leave the legacy architecture behind and if anyone asks why the old systems are still there, simply declare that they are now “strategic legacy components.”
Perhaps the secret formula was simple: Rename the transformation. Repackage the vision. Launch another architecture. Repeat. Brilliant!!!
So kudos to VG for demonstrating a truly unique form of transformational leadership: modernization programs that outlived their own technology, architectures that became obsolete before the legacy systems they were supposed to replace, and a North Star that somehow led everyone right back to the mainframe.
Congratulations on your retirement !! Finally you made this transformational decision “RIGHT”to save VZ-IT!!
The email announcement has gone out; Wael F will step into VG’s role. This new guy Jon A from Deutsche Telekom will have some of VG’s direct reports coming to him. I always thought it was odd having WF report to VG,, they used to be peers. I’m glad VG is gone, never thot it would happen but here we are. I wonder what will happen to VG’s protege …….

First thing the new guy needs to do is replace all of those VPs and bring in his own team. The mafia is still there. You need to get rid of the underlings to start fresh.
