Interviewing for a promotion

What kind of company makes you interview for a promotion.. Why should I have to interview for a company I already work for, for a promotion I deserve.. If the managers and higher ups can’t appreciate dedicated employees then why do we go above and beyond.. going forward they will get the bare minimum

Oh the entitlement is rich. I am thoroughly embarrassed someone so stupid openly posts such garbage works for the same company I do.

@qp promotions should be given based on your performance.. they had a back log of employees who should have been promoted a long time ago but never were there has been a turn over in managers and higher tiered employees and again no one is promoted they just keep hiring new people when someone is let go. It’s become a joke if you don’t show appreciation your dedicated employees will stop caring and eventually move on

@qp Here is a helpful Tip - you say there are rules

Ask to see the Rule - FAFO

They claim there are rules, as they make them up so suit themselves. Agree with most - do what is meeting standards and no more - you meeting standard merit is about 1% - exceeding is like 2.5% maybe - no really worth it is it?

OP said IF - " If the managers and higher ups can’t appreciate dedicated employees then why do we go above and beyond" . You need need to change this to a statement- The managers and higher ups DO NOT appreciate dedicated employees. Therefore, you should NOT go above and beyond. Sad but true!

They need to go through the process and give other potential candidates a chance. They cannot simply promote someone, there are rules.

It’s just another example of how this company does everything a-s backwards. I have heard people talk a lot about this through years. They won’t just promote you, they have to post a job that they know will be earmarked for you, you have to apply and probably others will submit their application because they think it is a “real” job opening and they might even interview others for a job that is earmarked for a specific person. What a monumental waste of time for everyone involved. Company can’t figure out a way to streamline the internal promotion process but they are gonna fix all the issues with healthcare. Yeah right!

Well, because you will have to interview with a cast of thousands - it won't be just one person trust me - with all due respect you need to play the game, drink the koolaid or you won't go far even if you get the promotion.

They don't appreciate the dedication - sadly the only person who thinks you deserve it is you - and going forward if you do get it and do the bare minimum - you won't get much in the future - and PS - you likely won't get much of a pay raise if you get one at all.

Sorry but that's how it works
