Our plant was recently informed corporate will be coming to discuss upcoming insurance changes. Any ideas of what changes employees can expect?

Not if you want to contribute to an HSA...
You can switch to the 2 other plans
This isn’t very far off from a catastrophic insurance plan which has a $9200 threshold. For my family we are effectively uninsured with this new $7k premium.
I never thought I would work at 3M and be proud we get benefits through my wife’s employer. We are in the L3Harris-ification process now!
This would make Bill the worst CEO in the United States. We are losing.
Yes, Billy is cutting every benefit he can cut. Growth is an illusion and he can't afford to cut his pay or stock buybacks.
If this is intended to get 3Mers to leave, it’s working.
Got it in the mail today... So my family deductible went from $3400 to $7000?? Wtf?Am I understanding this correctly?
@sw
You can still USE the HSA dollars in the copay plan, you can just no longer contribute. Once the money is in the HSA, it is yours to use for any qualified medical expense, at any time, under any insurance plan.
Run fast from anything to do with United Healthcare.
@ry
Also can’t use HSA money in the variable co-pay plan ! So putting in Hsa money all these years n now offering a plan that doesn’t allow you to use that money? Seems The co-pay plan is a bunch of hooey. Run by United healthcare. Wonder if the new plans are designed to push one into basic or high deductible? And more out of our pockets
@s3
Thanks.
@s2
No email, physical mail...
I didn’t get a email. Are you in the US?
Just pass on the added cost of healthcare, as much as possible, to the employee. Easy peasy, employee squizzy.
@rc
I'm real curious how that "Variable Copay Plan" works... The one where the "best providers" will have the lowest copay (yeah, because that's always how that works). Let's say something goes wrong and you end up in the ER or admitted to a hospital...you can't exactly "check the price of providers before getting service" there can you? Is it just safe to assume if that happens you hit your out-of-pocket max?
As said, more for less is the only guarantee here.
Check your mail, I received a summary today. They are dropping one of the high deductible plans and introducing a variable copay plan. Also dropping Healthpartners as carrier, using BCBS or Surest for the variable copay.
Oh, and you can bet that the monthly premiums will increase, and the deductibles will also go up. So in summary: Pay more for less.
According to Google - Specific, company-wide health insurance plan changes for 3M in 2027 have not been publicly detailed by corporate benefits administration yet. General 2027 Corporate Health Trends Rising Costs: Large U.S. employers are facing an average 8% to 11% surge in total healthcare benefit costs for 2027 before implementing mitigation strategies. Plan Adjustments: To combat inflation and rising claims—including expensive specialized medications like GLP-1 weight-loss dr-gs—many large corporations are expected to adjust plan designs, increase deductibles, or alter pharmacy tier structures during the fall open enrollment window. ACA Affordability Benchmark: The IRS set the 2027 Affordable Care Act (ACA) affordability threshold at 10.22% of an employee's household income, which dictates minimum employer plan pricing compliance. To check the exact 2027 options and contributions for your specific situation, log in directly through your employee portal on the official 3M Benefits Center or contact your HR Total Rewards representative once open enrollment materials are released this fall.
How much more time will the average 3Mer spend in the P ersonify website to achieve the discount. Great use of company time.
Health insurence is a joke. Imagin you subscribe to netflix and pay everytime you watch a movie. Insurence is just like that. Hey here is 600 of saving. Make sure you pay your primiem. on top of that pay upto family deductible. Such a scam
You need to earn twice as many points to get the discount, now.
But don't worry, you can earn points by joining Bill Brown's unpopular 5k, or reading a book to learn how to better manage your money!
(Literally not even joking.)
...outside of paying more for less, unfortunately no...
