Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

American tax $ goes in = American jobs go out

How does it make sense that private companies receive billions in American taxpayer dollars to run government funded programs (like Medicare and Medicaid), but are then allowed to lay off American workers and offshore those exact jobs overseas?

  1. How does this build our economy?
When public funds pay for these contracts, shouldn't a primary goal be keeping those tax dollars circulating within the U.S. economy? Offshoring eliminates middle-class administrative jobs, taking wage tax revenues and local spending power completely out of our communities.

  2. How does this benefit the average citizen?
The standard corporate argument is "cost savings," but rarely do those savings translate into lower healthcare costs or better services for the public. Instead, taxpayers fund the contracts, domestic workers lose their livelihoods, and profits go to corporate margins. (Sarah)

  3. Why are foreign entities allowed to manage our sensitive data?
This is the most concerning part. Millions of members' Social Security numbers, home addresses, financial details, and medical/disability records are being accessed, processed, and stored in databases overseas. Even with Business Associate Agreements and basic CMS/HIPAA compliance, sending sensitive American data outside U.S. legal jurisdiction creates obvious security and privacy risks? Were we not just trying to ban TikTok for data reasons but sending our most private information is okay to send overseas?

Most of these are rhetorical as I know the main answer is that this is for millionaires/billionaires to gain more money and that they don’t actually care about the American people.

And Sarah if you’re wanting to reinvest into the company, why don’t you use some of your massive salary?

@a3 of course it’s been bothering us! But as someone else stated this is not covered as it doesn’t sell. Instead all this cr-p is just glorified main stream while we gravel in silence. Vicious cycle I don’t see changing anytime soon regardless of the administration in office. #perks#greed#capitalism#egos#sinking ships!!

Don't forget along with offshoring of labor expense and protections, they offshored to evade our environmental protections.

The state of the economy and business has become so vicious and inhumane at this point that most of us are going to be moved aside and left to die in the streets if the full potential of AI and cheap Indian slave labor comes to fruition. Our system is evil and rotten.

I don't understand either and thought it was crazy that tariffs were put on goods that came from foreign countries (since America has limited manufacturing capabilities). But yet America corporation where not assigned a monetary punishment for outsourcing jobs to foreign companies.

I think many of the current workforce would much rather stop the outsourcing of jobs that has happened in the last 5 to 10 years and is continuing to happen at a faster pace, than we would want to start working at future manufacturing plants.

Why was the government concerned with old fashion manufacturing jobs, yet not concerned with current actual jobs held by Americans TODAY being shipped from America to overseas.

The outsourcing of jobs has started post COVID but it has accelerated in the last few years . At this rate most of the us jobs will be gone to off shore locations . Now the media doesn't cover this because it's doesn't sell .

This post was to bring attention to others who haven’t thought about it. Thanks

Is this just bothering you now? This has been happening for years and is now catching up to Centene. Private companies can do whatever they want to save money and keep the c-suite executives rich. Everyone complains about Trump's tarriffs, but don't think twice about products, services, and jobs that go overseas because it's cheaper.

Outsourcing in claims started shortly after the Politan Hedge Fund began its campaign for Centene.
