Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Business as usual…

“Carry on, work hard, and keep our numbers strong!” I guess that’s really all we can do right now but how do they expect us to focus? We have various team members with different separation dates. Leadership has said they’re sharing information as they receive it, but honestly, there hasn’t been much to share...

We still haven’t heard whether the rumored layoffs are moving forward or which departments or roles might be affected first. Like many other teams, our department depends heavily on work coming from the clinical teams, and it’s hard to know how many of those employees accepted the VSP. Until we have more clarity, I guess we just plug along?

I am no longer willing to overextend myself for an organization that does not value that extra effort. Not accepting the VSP was absolutely the right decision for me, the payout will be heavily taxed based on what happened to the first group. It became clear during that initial round that the selection process was entirely arbitrary, performance metrics and seniority were completely ignored, management had no logical agenda when picking individuals. My advice to everyone now is to simply fulfill your basic job duties while actively searching for your next opportunity! Good luck Centene Family!

Naw, do a “shock and awe” walkout!

I remember that meeting, maybe last summer, and a man confidently said he’d just returned from Washington and we’d be fine. He meant them, not us.

It doesn’t make sense that you would still lay people off if you are keeping people for a year and a half that have been approved for the VSP. But that is exactly how I took the London calling today. “4 out 5 people” voluntarily leaving means 1 out of 5 will be laid off.

@OP I'm not working any harder than necessary. They chose how to play their employees and members. They Don't give a d*mn about any of us. Its not my responsibility to go the extra mile knowing more cuts are to come with no true structure once the dust all settles.

People will wish they took the VSP when the cuts begin.

@a4 that is department specific. My department did not meet the VSP mark and therefore more in layoffs then they hoped.

My pl told us on monday that a lot of people applied for vsp so the layoff number will be much lower. Everyone should know by 8/12

@OP The London calling references that since VSP was so thoughtfully executed 4 of 5 people who will lose their jobs are seeking separation. It's around the 4:26 time mark.
I read that to mean people will still be let go.

They are being as transparent as a black sharpie. The only breadcrumb they have given us was 4 out of 5 people leaving Centene volunteered through VSP. So means VSP was a success(ish) and they are still going to lay people off but maybe just a smaller amount of people leaving involuntary.

The word “transparency” has been used too frequently with no answers.
