With nearly everybody approved for VSP, is there still a need for additional layoffs?

The RIF/ISP has been confirmed by my leadership.
@bh because it is about job role.
Some roles are being terminated and unfortunately the people in those roles.
@bh Most people genuinely wanted to stay and work here, but with the VSP offering an extra four weeks of benefits, combined with the red flags, they were seeing many decided. It was the best option for them. Those who didn’t take it have had to deal with the uncertainty of wondering, what was going to happen to their jobs. I think the company wanted most people to leave but had to stagger with the departures because so many accepted the VSP, they couldn’t have everyone leave at once. In the end, it’s been one big gamble. Ironically, the people who didn’t take the package are now considered dispensable.
So wait - the people who sighed up for VSP - and wanted to leave - get to stay till May 2027, some till August of 2027 and some thru Dec of 2027... and those who declined the VSP - and genuinely wanted to work here - can just get cut now - with nothing? Make it make sense?
@b4 No. Those employees are working through their approval end dates because the company still needs them. Employees who did not elect the VSP remain at risk of layoff because the approved VSP’s have already been factored into the workforce reduction, but additional headcount reductions are still needed.
So are people who took the VSP and got a late 2027 date still at risk for being laid off? I would think not but this whole thing isn't making any sense..
And more in 2027 when they lose 40% of their membership and cognizant takes over.
Yes. There is still going to be involuntary layoffs. My PL told me we would know by August 12th
I’m sure there will be.
Earnings yesterday said they expected $480 million SG&A savings in 2026. That needs a big (maybe 7000) cut in workforce to happen.
No one knows anything. Even your manager and director are just as scared as you are. All you can do for now is just wait and see
You bet your biscuits.
Very unfortunate but I think there will be a RIF next month.
