I spend at least 8 hours in the office on my in person days. Is that necessary?

@j4 I wish more clinicians would speak out about how they are treated. Do you think this place can sell a product without clinicians. The horror show needs to be exposed.
@jc They used to allow employees to bring a pet horse into the office but then the janitorial crew began to complain about the manure on the carpets.

@hh yeah they do chain clinicians to their desk and IM them constantly, check their phone calls, count the beans, constantly find ANYTHING THEY CAN to make you feel inadequate and disrespected. Gotta say since I was hired last year after literally saving lives for a living, people who could never do what I did are full of criticism of what I say to patients, how I say it, how long I was on a call, why didn't I get a ht and weight on a woman who is crying she just found out her husband is going to die. I dread everyday I have to endure this horror show
@ag there is no way for the company to know duration beyond your pulse reservations, which they do not check regularly - it's just the badging system that is monitored. There's a lot of liability with mandatory badge outs (i.e., what if someone dies in a fire trying to badge out?) so as long as your manager doesn't have someone local spying on you, they have no way to know. I'm speaking for the non-clinical corpos. They probably chain the clinicians to their desks.
@fq I am interested why you work 10-12 hrs a day from home? Or from anywhere? Not being sarcastic, just wonder why in the world you would do that? You may have lucked out from going in the office for now but you may get bit by that in the future. And you have set an expectation with your work hours. Why?
A few hours and I never meet the minimum. Our team has had significant attrition, so I’m in a place of power if you want to call it that. I still work ten and 12 hour days from home, but nobody says a thing if I miss the monthly requirement. Waste of two hours a day to go in.
@cy HR is hoping you (and as many other associates as possible) just give up and quit due to the frustration. It saves the company from having to pay out severance.
@aj oh they care. These Directors who get a pass, show up whenever they want or don't have to at all are the worst. The rest of us are far different.
I can leave at 6am and if I am not online at 8am I get a message" where were you". Well I can't control the traffic Ma'am. " Then you need to leave earlier to plan for it. Are you frigging kidding me?
I log out straight up at 5pm. Don't like it too bad and now I get home at 7 because you know "traffic and construction". I talk to NO ONE, I see NO ONE, I collaborate with NO ONE because I don't see anyone I know. Endless stupidity
Total misery, loud, hassle to drag everything in and hook it up, find parking, share a nasty breakroom and bathrooms that are never clean or stocked. Good Times.
Dredging into the office is torture. See no one, speak to no one, but get your badge swipes in so you don't land on the naughty list. Pitiful. I'll stay as long as I can muster and leave. I saw a dog in the office yesterday. No one is more productive in the office. No one.

@as I thought I was the only one who sleeps in Elevance basement. And I don’t even work there.
I sleep in the basement. I've been here for months. Perfect attendance.
I don't think they really care how long you're in the office if you're salaried and in a position that only asks for x times a week or month because your team is dispersed all over the country. If they monitor anything it's more likely your teams activity, IP location, computer activity, etc.
There are reports generated that your leader will see regarding attendance and length of stay. Dont quote me, and maybe someone else can verify, the time in office show on the report appears only if you have to "badge OUT". Most offices dont have that technology, however, the larger ones do.
The biggest variable is your manager and your organization. Some managers are super hard-core about time and adherence...others dont care.
So, to answer your question..."It Depends".
