If you can't so your job effectively, don't fight it. Trust the process. Document it. Be a good corporate citizen.
Do not, under any circumstances, try to make the company better unless you have a protector.
The risk of this is that eventually your department or the entire company will fail. This will out you and the company at risk of being laid off. The difference is, it will not be targeted at you.
