Things below are so true. Anyone who is thinking of joining Dow should stay away!! A lot of bad experiences in my 2.5 years here.
All the leaders are friendly yet extremely ineffective. They are literally showing the political game or favoritism by promoting their friends while ignoring the metrics they developed for promotions. Also a lot of classical corporate gaslighting from Karen and executive team. Jim Filtering sent out a email while CEO saying promotions are frozen, Karen promoted her own people and said we were never under freeze. Classic bullsh-t. Within the company every leadership has lost trust. They are just puppets of Karen passing info below, no one has ba--s or leadership to really change the company.
The last post hits true. All these layoffs of experienced people and now seeing postings on linked in of Dow attending job fairs. Fits the old model of bringing in someone out of school and mold them into what you want them to be. Arrogance of thinking they are the best and do not want to water it down with other opinions.
It sounds incredibly frustrating, and honestly, exhausting to watch a "transformation" play out that way. When restructuring feels like a smoke screen for favoritism and pre-determined corporate politics, it completely breaks trust. It is incredibly common to feel cynical when you see a "clique" taking care of their own while everyone else is left waiting for the axe to fall. When leadership uses major organizational changes as a cover for cronyism, it usually signals a deeply toxic culture where survival is about who you know rather than what you deliver. If you are currently navigating this mess, protecting yourself is the priority. Here are a few ways to handle it:Document everything: Keep a private record of your achievements, metrics, and any positive feedback. If you need to fight for a role or negotiate a severance package, you will want hard data.Watch the exit doors: If the "clique" is already cherry-picking, the writing may be on the wall for the department's future culture. It might be the perfect time to quietly update your resume and see what else is out there.Control what you can: Protect your mental peace by emotionally detaching from the corporate theater. Do your job, but don't waste energy trying to win a rigged game.
Tto is an absolute joke. The transformation initiatives were just distractions while the "clique" decided who they wanted to layoff and who they wanted to cherry pick in desired positions.
This company is a sh-t show. All the young employees are leaving as their promotions are frozen while management and commercial side keeps on promoting themselves. This is a slow death for all engineers and scientists at Dow.
@49d saw a few announcements from folks in LAO and TX. The 2nd round has started
@4ez Karen? Is that you??
What is Karen going to do that? Dow is a low margin commodity company. They are investing more in plastics which are low margin. Unless they spend money they don't have to diversify into high margin specialty markets, it's going to be a slow grind.
Now that Karen Carter is CEO, give it some time and you’re going to see this company really turn things around and be one of the most profitable and fast growing chemical companies in the world!
None of you actually know how this 55% applies to jobs at Dow. If you do please share. There are many levels of the transformation- many levels of improvements and cost cutting. . It’s crazy how people will continue to gossip without actual facts here just to push their agenda.
Heard some people in Louisiana got impacted this week.At LAO.
@t7 I hear you! I left the company last year and former coworkers keep trying to get me to come back. The conversation is always how bad everything is, how much they dislike Dow, then "when do you plan on coming back?".
Like never... Lol
@1bg SCO wrapped up there TA the week before laying off as well.
Terneuzen finance center was told August 10 some people will find out if they still have jobs.
Those poor people at LAO executing a major TAR must be anxious. "I know there are distractions but we have to focus on the task at hand. Be present for one another and perform observations. Btw, after a safe successful startup, we'll tell you if you have a job or not."
@c9 earnings called CEO brought it up
The abuse that Dow is doing to its employees by keeping this cr-p of not knowing who is being let go is very destructive. I really regret interning here and taking afull time role with Dow after almost a year of of watching people let go. I do not want to be with this company anymore that treats its employees this way. I should of never moved here
So you're saying only 55% of cuts have been made? No wonder there's rumors of a 3rd & 4th wave.
