Thread regarding Texas Instruments Inc. layoffs

Something’s coming the attitude has been non stop again

Something is coming. Right before each transition or layoffs pass downs become a nightmare! Literally, they came in one day said don’t do x,y,z moves . After we did it the night before . So, next day we don’t and follow directions they come in and get upset we don’t do it after they asked us not to.
When this kind of bull starts happening and first shift and upper management starts losing their temper and minds something big is always on the way!

This is becoming quickly one of the worse places to work!

Morale is so bad
Coming in and making fuss after fuss over sometimes the directions they gave to do . Why would anyone want to do this to themselves?

This company especially this particular fab in Richardson is going to run everyone off!!!!!!

Ask questions before you start flying off the handle !

Especially if you are at the top be sure you’re setting the example!

@28n the English seems broken but I know who you’re talking about as well and what you were trying to say

Though I do understand the frustration of not having a coherent fab on all shifts. Each shift kinda has a different idea of what they need to do and sometimes they end up working against each other. I am almost sure I know who this poster is off of this information when it was posted in the fab given in the content. I’m not going to out you specifically. Also, I have seen you on here in physically passing you. I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am.
The reason I mentioned that is because though what you said has some substance behind it specifically that particular day you posted about it. It can be rather confusing when these things happen.
All of that being said, you have a bigger issue at hand. That issue is that the let’s call him a boss that runs the shift that you’re on because you’re an industrial engineer. You have a different boss that you report to but the boss that runs this shift does he not sit all of us down and ask us questions and what are we focusing on tonight ? Then he will literally ask you in front of us to look into something see if you need to put something in to move things or change and sometimes he even says they do this specifically and there’s a 50% chance you do it. He even reminds you sometimes and says hey I didn’t see this move or anything change here have you done this and you say in the WebEx that we are all tied to? Oh no I’m gonna do that now or I’m looking into it and then pass down, comes and guess what you haven’t done it. So when it seems like you’re getting pushed back and frustration in the room at past down and you feel like people are being hard on you it’s a self created cycle.
It’s hard to take anything you do seriously if you’re constantly not putting in the effort. So that one out of 10 time you do something somebody throws a fit and they didn’t look deep enough into it to see that you did something right because nine out of 10 times you don’t do it.
I’ll be really honest with you. I see you on TikTok scrolling through TikTok making TikTok’s at work doing all sorts of stuff anything but your job and it’s very notable not to just me but to everyone because your job isn’t done half the time at the end of the day.
To put it in Laymans terms something you might understand let’s see you have a child you colored on the wall got caught nine times. The 10th time it was actually the other sibling who colored on the wall but the parent assumes it’s the kid who did it nine out of 10 because that’s been the truth that nine out of 10 times ,does that make sense? I’m not trying to attack you at all And like I said there is some truth to what you said it truly can be rather confusing when the fab is not working together, and that means all shifts. However, again, you have a different problem that you should focus on.

I hear they want to cut all of facilities overtime. Work 8 hour shifts for everyone.

@OP I am an intern and I can absolutely second this feeling. Constantly nervous about making decisions because you might hear about it in the pass down . I just make as little move changes as possible because I’d rather the on shift manager be upset with me then listen to 1st shift and upper management give me a hard time. However, I still hear about it : why don’t you do this or that and I am always thinking to myself because I did the time before and heard about it . If given the chance and knowing what I know now I would go elsewhere . There are other directions for industrial engineers and I should have looked at them like the others in my class

Is this a first shift IE thinks shift IE is stupid issue?

The IE team hardly does what we need to. Why? Because we make moves and we here about it. Then we don't put in the same move, "It's why didn't you put in this move?". Most move positions if we can because who can follow that? Its basically ----- if you do and ---- if you don't. Its one of the worse environments to be at right now. Its honestly impossible to do your job.

Your own communication in this post is difficult to follow, so it is possible that some of the conflict comes from your own misunderstandings about what management is asking you to do. However, there is not enough information here to conclude that a broader change or layoff is coming. This might just be specific to you. Providing specific examples of the instructions you received, who gave them, and how they later changed would make the situation easier to evaluate.

What you just described was my TI manager’s daily “management” style. I couldn’t take it anymore and left.
