Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

People leader - Nitpicking

My people leader was always so laid back and chill- now its emails about everything regarding production- time-claims, etc. I understand he's stressed but still... is this a paper trail for layoffs? Is it to stop me from getting VSP? T to fire me before hand? I plan on taking it anyway.. are people leaders told to be stricter or is this her way of saving her own job? I feel so discouraged now.

Everything matters right now and there's a lot of pressure in the system. If they're like me, your PL is stressed out and trying to protect their people as much as they can. This is a really bad time to pop up on the radar in a bad way. Everyone below Sarah London's direct reports (they get raises, we get RIFed) needs to be hitting their marks right now. It may not save your job, but messing up right now is likely to cost it.

And every freaking Corp. department has gone into overtime micromanaging and requiring extra documentation for just about everything this spring. I'm so tired of filling out spreadsheets they don't read, having them give instructions that the spreadsheet explained would be stupid, meet with them, get the same instruction a week later from their boss, respond with documentation, meeting to explain it, and so on forever. They are actively pressuring health plans to violate their contracts in order to save money. I'm not going to jail for Sarah London's Q3 bonus.

It's just a stressful, terrible environment. For the first time, I'm having to email myself memos about the times Corporate is pushing us to violate our contract. It's insane. Whether or not you excuse Sarah for miscalculating and mismanaging politics so horribly, her lack of leadership over her Corporate cronies is inexcusable.

My PL hasn’t said anything, he’s super quiet. We had a meeting as a whole department but that was it. Even my PL cancel our 1 on 1 or doesn’t even show up. Maybe he is stressed of losing their own job. He thought the VSP was after taxes.

I don't know where you are or who your leader is, but speaking from my perspective as a leader in claims, when I've been asking for more it hasn't been because of VSP or because anyone wants to fire people.

From what I've seen, inventory has been climbing fast and escalations have increased, which has created a lot more pressure across the board. Personally, I think it's more of a perfect storm of different issues hitting at once, and the combination of everything has been taking a mental toll on people.

It’s about protecting the team as best they can given the deck we have all been given.

I wouldn't describe my PL as laid back, but they also have never been aggressive in evaluations. That recently changed based on performance feedback that was noticeably and unusually critical.
