Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Are layoffs truly a constant?

I am new here but already getting the sense that layoffs are just part of the deal. I'm trying to figure out if this is something people always stress over or if it comes in waves and then fades.

Since I joined PepsiCo in 2010 yearly layoffs. They’re usually in the holiday season but I will never forget the Valentine’s Day Massacre. I was finally layoff on an August 2021. It’s part of the culture.

Comp to stress ratio is at an all time high.

TSMs used to make near 100K when a home cost $98,000.

Now TSLs don’t make much more, manage twice as much and a home costs a heckuva lot more. I don’t envy this generation.

At PepsiCo, they say that upon joining, a bullet is shot. From that moment on, you are merely running a race against an inevitable strike, and success is defined solely by how long you can delay it.

Do the waves ever stop at the beach? That’s the consistency of layoffs and restructures at PepsiCo. You can survive but there will be a little doubt in your mind. Great people get let go all the time so being a high performer is no guarantee.

@OP yes they are a constant. Look at it this way, each year (usually around Thanksgiving) they restructure, so consider yourself on a one year renewable contract.
