I am new here but already getting the sense that layoffs are just part of the deal. I'm trying to figure out if this is something people always stress over or if it comes in waves and then fades.

At PepsiCo, they say that upon joining, a bullet is shot. From that moment on, you are merely running a race against an inevitable strike, and success is defined solely by how long you can delay it.
Oh, it fades - once you GTFO!
Do the waves ever stop at the beach? That’s the consistency of layoffs and restructures at PepsiCo. You can survive but there will be a little doubt in your mind. Great people get let go all the time so being a high performer is no guarantee.
@OP yes they are a constant. Look at it this way, each year (usually around Thanksgiving) they restructure, so consider yourself on a one year renewable contract.
@OP Truly a constant. Never fades. Sorry.
