Can someone explain how bringing SH back is better than Witty?
it’s the same nothingburger of an email — and some of the issues we have now sure started when steve was in charge anyway.
some of it’s not managements fault, CMS declining to increase medicare payments is a little insane in the current environment. every insurer is getting hammered from both providers and the public and the government.
at the same time — some of it is managements fault. tons of badly deployed capital. for example… why did we buy AMIL and other globals to take a complete bath on them and exit? why do we have so many unprofitable units?
why are they continuing to pay a dividend at this point. the stock price was already going to drill into the core of the earth when we revoked guidance — suspend the dividend as well for more flexibility.
i still think the company will slowly turn around and CMS will ultimately revise payments upwards in april…. but the duplicative teams, the squabbling between optum and UHC, the convoluted, old technology systems still driving some core operations and the overly complicated partial rollouts of replacements…. at least presumably our competitors are as disorganized as we are.
