@OP Although I don't live in Florida usually you can't get unemployment while you are receiving severance income. You should talk with an unemployment representative at your local office. Conceivably you could file a weekly claim but won't receive an unemployment check on a weekly basis until a specific date in time that you will be informed of.
For example if your severance is equal to 2 months of pay, you will not receive unemployment checks until the end of the week starting the 3rd month.
@a4 you should check with HR. with cause means you did something illegal
@a4 wait what? Verizon told your state unemployment department you were riffed due to misconduct and not a restructure????
@OP I would think verizon would say, we don't know and you should check with state laws.
@a4 that is awful! you need to contact HR. usually the state will check with the employer and confirm that you got laid off without cause. if you get that notice, that means the employer sent them its cause and you are not entitle to unemployment
@a4 that’s wild. call Ben Crump and the Verizon Legal team will be outmaneuvered. they may owe you big time.
@a1 do I need to keep putting in my work searches all those weeks up until August or do I just start that again after August 15 when the severance period ends
@a1 yes florida’s unemployment is a joke. Most states get 26 weeks where we get 12.
I literally got a denial in NC for workplace misconduct. WTF??? Definitely appealing but anyone else get the same??? 26 years without ANY bad reviews.....I am so angry 😠
yeah once your severance period is over, re-apply.previous poster is right
Yeah , we will get after those "weeks" are over . It may take a year to get this funded. and you need to apply for every week .
only 275/week for 12 weeks .. I believe the worst UI in the nation .
